- Birth nameRobinson Thomas Polanco
- Robinson Polanco is a Dominican-American actor. He grew up in the Dominican Republic, and at the age of 14 years old moved to New Jersey to live with his father. He played baseball for the majority of his life, and even went on to play professionally in the Frontier league in the Mid-West.
So how did Robinson Polanco get started in the entertainment industry as an actor? It all happened by chance. He went with a close actor friend of his to pick up a check at his friend's agency. While at the agency one of the agent approach Robinson, and asked him if he "would be interested in pursuing an acting, and modeling career?" It wasn't until about a year later when Robinson decided to commit to it. At this point he was no longer playing baseball, and wanted to do something very different from baseball.
He booked his first modeling "go-see" for a local Atlanta designer, and right there at the same time the casting director asked him if he "would be interested in auditioning for a tax commercial?" Robinson booked the principal role, and was quickly "bitten by the acting bug." After filming the tax commercial he realized acting was for him. He finds acting to be therapeutic for him. As he said "When I am acting I get to do something I never got the chance to do while playing baseball, I get to show all my emotions."
Now he resides in Atlanta, Ga. He has played roles on stage as well as television, and film. He has performed at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta GA, The Bulkhead Theatre, plus dozens of roles in film/TV/and commercials.
He has trained with master teacher Barbara Beneville, theatre director Robert Putnam, and casting director Brian Beegle. He also has training in police work by Steven Mosley.
Some of his recent work include: John in the indie film "Mr.Evaluator," Rico in the short "My Sometime Heroes," Tyler Bookman in the feature film "Crossing Thresholds," and Jorge in the horror feature "Nightstalking."
When he is not acting Robinson enjoys playing sports. He was a professional baseball player, and still plays in the Atlanta men's baseball league. Among his favorite things to do are also: fishing, spending time with family, friends, and dancing. Robinson is bi-lingual, able to speak both English, and Spanish fluently.
Robinson is looking forward to working in a primetime TV series, and in a feature film playing the role of a superhero.- IMDb Mini Biography By: Da'Tonio Graves
