While series judges Simon Cowell, Sofia Vergara, Heidi Klum and Howie Mandel are still around to offer their support and critique of the acts, the power is out of their hands and rests all in America’s vote. Only two acts from each of the five qualifying groups will win over America and earn a spot in the “AGT” finale.

“America’s Got Talent” began the live shows of its 18th season on August 22 with the first round of performances in the “Qualifiers.” On Tuesday night’s show, 11 acts performed for America’s vote and only two of them will advance to “The Finals” when the results are delivered by Terry Crews on Wednesday night. Before that happens, we can reveal that Your favorite act of the night was the dog act from Italy, Adrian Stoica and Hurricane, as voted on by viewers in Gold Derby’s overnight poll.
Adrian and his companion dog Hurricane performed a comedic routine where Adrian was attempting to complete yard duty tasks, but kept getting thwarted by Hurricane’s antics. Adrian believes that what separates him and Hurricane from dog acts on previous seasons is that he allows her to improvise in their performances, leaving room for unexpected and unintended excitement. Heidi Klum‘s fan-fave Golden Buzzer, Lavender Darcangelo, blew the roof off “America’s Got Talent” with her performance of “I Want to Know What Love Is” during the reality TV show’s first live show on Tuesday, August 22. The live shows of “America’s Got Talent” Season 18 begin on Tuesday, August 22 with the first “Qualifiers” round. In this stage of the competition, the acts sent through by the judges during the “Auditions” phase will perform again for a chance to advance to the finals. Of the 55 acts we know advanced to this round, 21 incorporate some form of singing in their overall talent. That’s over a third of the acts still in the competition, leaving us to wonder whether singing acts have a distinct advantage when it comes to the world’s biggest talent show. In terms of winners, it’s been four years since the last singer, Kodi Lee, claimed victory.
In the first six seasons of “AGT,” all of the victors worked within the singing genre on their way to claiming the championship. Bianca Ryan, Neal E. Boyd, Kevin Skinner, Michael Grimm and Landau Eugene Murphy, Jr....

Mitch Rossell had the “America’s Got Talent” audience and judges feeling all of the emotions during his audition.
The country singer, 35, took to the stage to sing an original song, titled “Son”, after he tragically lost his dad at age 10 in a drunk driving accident.
He told viewers how they would listen to country music together and would drive around in the car singing.
Rossell recalled, “We were so poor, but he loved me so much — he bought me a little guitar when I was a kid.
“He always wanted me to play growing up. And I was too rambunctious, was always into sports, and just didn’t take the time to learn and didn’t want to learn.”
