Antony Hewish was born on 11 May 1924 in Fowey, Cornwall, UK. He was married to Marjorie Elizabeth Catherine Richards. He died on 13 September 2021 in the UK.
He was an astronomer who designed and built the radio telescope used to discover pulsars. He and his colleague Martin Ryle were co-laureates of the Nobel Prize in physics in 1974. They were also the first astronomers to win a Nobel.
