- A native New Yorker, John Powers grew up on Long Island. He attended a small liberal arts college in the Northeast, and fell in love with the thrill of live performance art.
His quick wit and slightly askew view of the world lend his comedy to exaggerated, abstract yet obvious truths.
John played the lead roles in shorts: Tuesday, Dark Light, The Cara Sham. He also appeared on American Idol, Salt, Cupid, Kings, Mother May I, Maury Povich, and The Roast of John Powers!
When not on stage, John designs graphics for TV. His work has been seen on ESPN, SportsNet NY, Golf Channel, CBS and NBC. He has won an Emmy.
He also plays multiple musical instruments ...and knows how to ride a unicycle.
The Power Hour was a once monthly comedy show that ran for 5 years at EastVille Comedy club.
John Powers has also performed at: Caroline's, EastVille, Stand-Up NY, Laugh Lounge, Comix, Laugh Factory, Orlando Improv, Comic Strip Live, Gotham Comedy Club, NY Comedy Club, Broadway Comedy Club- IMDb Mini Biography By: Duncan Jay
- I don't say "no" to drugs. My drugs never ask me "yes" or "no" questions. People are still calling this year "twenty-thirteen"... let's just call it 13. I'm not into camping. People always get in tents. If a whorehouse has a good reputation, do they call it a House of Well-Repute? I went to a support group for hypochondriacs and left with more shit than I went in with. Got an offer from the Hilton family. Sign up for a credit card and get 2 nights in any Hilton. I asked for 2 nights in Paris.
