- Compton started his own blog in 2011 where he has posted movie reviews, top 10 lists, plot hole lists and behind the scenes content relating to his films among other things. He took a break from it in 2023, and now only makes several posts a year due to the need to focus on his ill health and career development.
- Compton was diagnosed with epilepsy in 2014, after experiencing faint auras in late 2012 which worsened throughout 2013. The cause for his epilepsy is Hippocampal sclerosis, meaning it is refractory (drug resistant) and thus no medications have successfully negated his seizures. As a result, he continues to have around 15-25 seizures per month, most of which are focal.
- Compton used to have protruding ears, which greatly damaged his confidence over his appearance; he often tried to hide them behind his hair as best he could. His requests to have them pinned back for free through the NHS on the basis of psychological distress were refused, and so he eventually paid for plastic surgery to be performed on them privately in 2021.
- Compton's maternal grandfather was the person who developed his interest in railway modeling, having created a complex model railway layout in his attic which Compton greatly admired. Compton in turn felt this influenced his interest in filmmaking, as he created his own train set and made up his own stories when playing with it. His grandfather died in 2016; Compton delivered a speech at his funeral, referring to the influence his grandfather had on his love for filmmaking by saying "I think this shows how we can seriously underestimate how much our loved ones truly impact our lives, influencing our personalities and hobbies from the moment we're born; and if it ever brings you to success, you need to look back and thank them for that.".
- Compton developed an interest in filmmaking from a young age (circa 10 years old), regularly filming his model railway layout with the family camcorder and making up his own Thomas & Friends themed stories. He also considers his interest to have developed from a love of storytelling and creating fictional content as a child; he and his friend Nathan Carr would often play games on the playground at primary school and create their own unique settings and storylines. Compton also created fictional characters and content such as Pinecone, a porcupine like character inspired by Sonic the Hedgehog, and Cosmomon, a lineup of creatures inspired by Pokémon, and even drew and laminated his own trading cards featuring them. Compton redrew a lot of them and posted them on Deviantart in 2018, aged 23.
- Compton was previously known to many on the internet as Gameking53, having run a YouTube channel called NintenTV Studios which featured game reviews, top 10 lists and video game comparisons, largely related to games released by Nintendo. He began the channel in 2006 but closed it in 2011, burning out from creating such content and feeling he was being identified as video game journalist when he wanted to be a filmmaker. However, he still contributed to several gaming videos on a shared YouTube channel known as ProjectFalconPunch from 2011 to 2018, but fell out with the co-creators in 2019 and has not spoken to them since. The channel itself has been inactive since 2021.
- Since December 2021, Compton has worked for Autek CIC, a studio which develops videos and virtual tours for disabled people and has a crew largely consisting of disabled people. The company released its first feature documentary, What's My Anxiety? (2024), in 2024, which features several stories from people with anxiety and other disabilities and discusses their connections. Compton created his own segment for the film, based on his experience with epilepsy and a seizure he had in a gym in 2021.
- Following his departure from Solent University, Compton became incredibly depressed, unable to find work in the film industry at local studios or universities. He considered studying at other universities, including Winchester, but eventually decided not to. In December 2021, he was contacted out of the blue by Alex Carter, whom he met when working on the now canceled TV project Olympia, and was offered a job as an freelance editor at Autek CIC. He immediately accepted, and within a year was offered a fixed hour contract due to his impressive quality of work.
- Compton was bullied extensively in his first year of secondary school in 2006 at age of 12, largely due to his protruding ears, occasional nose picking and close friendship with Nathan Carr. Many bullies began spreading false rumors that the two were a homosexual couple, leading to further mockery. His parents reported this to the school when Compton refused to go back out of fear; disciplinary action was taken against all the bullies involved, with one being permanently expelled and the rest being officially cautioned. Though Compton disliked most of his experience at secondary school, he still holds great respect for how well they handled the situation.
- Compton's first film released publicly was Five, a short horror film made in 2010, which he made over several days and released via social media. Though the film was met with praise from his classmates at the time, Compton heavily dislikes the film due to its poor filming and editing, nonsensical story and use of numerous horror clichés. He made two sequels, The Map of Five and The Reign of Five, but also heavily dislikes them due to their similar flaws. However, while Five was largely a silent film, the sequels featured extensive dialogue, with performances from Nathan Carr and another friend Compton knew from school, and all of them consider the acting very poor. Compton has made the films publicly available on his CarrCom Films channel, but in director's commentaries has made it clear how much he dislikes them, despite them being fun to make at the time.
- Compton briefly began a Foundation Diploma at the Arts University of Bournemouth after finishing his A Levels at Brockenhurst College in 2013, but left after a month or so as he felt unsatisfied with the course and because of his desire to focus on making Wandering (2014), a feature horror film he released in 2014. After being made redundant from his job at NatWest in 2019, he decided to give university a second try, this time studying Film Production at Solent University. Though he enjoyed part of his first year, he eventually faced discrimination from fellow classmates over his disability. He also criticized the university for its poor equipment and editing suites, falsely advertised work placements and the lazy work ethic of many people he worked with. Lecturers did little to remedy the issues when he reported them, and so he withdrew from his studies in 2021, after taking a gap year to think it over.
- Compton is close friends with Nathan Carr, whom he met in 1999 in Reception at the age of 5. Due to them being so young at the time, neither can remember how exactly they met. Carr has helped with all of Compton's film projects, including smaller ones he made when younger. Carr moved away from Southampton with his wife in 2022, and has plans to move to the United States with her one day; while he and Compton remain in touch, they now only see each in person several times a year.
- Before working in film, Compton worked part time in retail from 2012 to 2015 and largely hated it. He then worked full time at a Natwest contact centre from 2015 to 2019; while he did not necessarily enjoy the work, he liked the comforting atmosphere, decent salary and friendly colleagues, notably his manager, whom he has described as one of the kindest people he has ever met. The centre shut down in 2019 and all staff were consequently made redundant.
- The name of Compton's YouTube channel, CarrCom Films, is a portmanteau of both his and Carr's surnames.
- Compton briefly worked for Solent University's editing team toward the end of his first year, and one of their clients was British actor Ajay Chhabra. He had several videos from Nutkhut to be edited, one of which featured Joanna Lumley.
