- Compton started his own blog in 2011 where he has posted movie reviews, top 10 lists, plot hole lists and behind the scenes content relating to his films among other things. He took a break from it in 2023, and now only makes several posts a year due to the need to focus on his ill health and career development.
- Compton was diagnosed with epilepsy in 2014, after experiencing faint auras in late 2012 which worsened throughout 2013. The cause for his epilepsy is Hippocampal sclerosis, meaning it is refractory (drug resistant) and thus no medications have successfully negated his seizures. As a result, he continues to have around 15-25 seizures per month, most of which are focal.
- Compton used to have protruding ears, which greatly damaged his confidence over his appearance; he often tried to hide them behind his hair as best he could. His requests to have them pinned back for free through the NHS on the basis of psychological distress were refused, and so he eventually paid for plastic surgery to be performed on them privately in 2021.
- Compton's maternal grandfather was the person who developed his interest in railway modeling, having created a complex model railway layout in his attic which Compton greatly admired. Compton in turn felt this influenced his interest in filmmaking, as he created his own train set and made up his own stories when playing with it. His grandfather died in 2016; Compton delivered a speech at his funeral, referring to the influence his grandfather had on his love for filmmaking by saying "I think this shows how we can seriously underestimate how much our loved ones truly impact our lives, influencing our personalities and hobbies from the moment we're born; and if it ever brings you to success, you need to look back and thank them for that.".
- Compton developed an interest in filmmaking from a young age (circa 10 years old), regularly filming his model railway layout with the family camcorder and making up his own Thomas & Friends themed stories. He also considers his interest to have developed from a love of storytelling and creating fictional content as a child; he and his friend Nathan Carr would often play games on the playground at primary school and create their own unique settings and storylines. Compton also created fictional characters and content such as Pinecone, a porcupine like character inspired by Sonic the Hedgehog, and Cosmomon, a lineup of creatures inspired by Pokémon, and even drew and laminated his own trading cards featuring them. Compton redrew a lot of them and posted them on Deviantart in 2018, aged 23.
