She may have been the first X Factor mentor knocked out of the competition last year, but that little hiccup won’t stop Demi Lovato from returning to the show’s panel for Season 3, Fox announced today.
“I am so excited to return as a judge and mentor on The X Factor,” said Lovato in a press release. “Last season was an unbelievable experience and I really enjoyed developing personal relationships with the contestants and the panel. I look forward to taking my previous experience and applying it to make this season even better.”

Among the breakout auditions on tonight's Season 4 premiere of NBC's "The Voice" was white guy with a guitar Christian Porter's bluesy spin on Lmfao's deliberately cheesy pop hit "Sexy and I Know It."
But even though the "Voice" coaches praised Porter for his "unique" performance ("So much imagination went into that arrangement," raved Blake Shelton -- who Porter ultimately picked to be his coach), anyone familiar with YouTube viral videos or singing competition shows knows there was nothing remotely new about what Porter did.
Covers specialist Noah Guthrie already made the exact same version of a song a viral sensation last summer -- long before Porter taped his audition. Although there was no mention made of it on the show, Porter has acknowledged via Twitter he was "inspired" by Noah.
Last year on Fox's "The X Factor," finalist CeCe Frey did a similar spin on Lmfao during the show's sing-off rounds.

Demi Lovato has opened up about her experience as a judge on The X Factor USA. The 'Skyscraper' singer joined the show's judging panel for the current season, replacing season one's Nicole Scherzinger and Paula Abdul. In an interview with Parade, Lovato stressed that she has dedicated herself to helping acts like CeCe Frey and Paige Thomas succeed on the series. Describing it as "fun and exciting, but really stressful", she said: "I was surprised at how emotionally invested I became. It hurts to see them go, especially when I know their potential." Lovato also said that she felt intimidated by being the youngest judge on The X Factor (more)...

X Factor 2012 Tate Stevens getting major help from popular rigged voting site. We've recently learned that popular website votefortheworst.com is now giving contestant Tate Stevens a boost in the voting for the current X-Factor 2012 edition after their first pick ,CeCe Frey, bit the dust a few weeks back, and this new turn of events for the voting ,could give Tate the push he needs to land him in the winner's circle. Votefortheworst originated with the American Idol talent show, and has now branched off into the other ones as well, encouraging their millions of readers to cast their vote for who they feel is the worst contestant on the show and push them threw all the people who seemingly deserve to stick around. They boast pushing through many champions in the past, and look to score big with Tate Stevens. It's truly a travesty, but kinda funny if you sit and think about.

Ah, the power of the pimp spot.
If you read our X Factor recap yesterday, it probably wasn't as shocking as producers had hoped when Fifth Harmony squeaked by Groups teammates Emblem3 to secure a place in next week's Season Two finale alongside front-runners Tate Stevens and Carly Rose Sonenclar. Barring an early Mayan apocalypse, we all know that Tate Stevens and Carly Rose Sonenclar will make it to the X Factor finale, so there's not much to discuss there. The real race is between Simon Cowell's two remaining groups, Emblem3 and Fifth Harmony, as there's seemingly room for only one of them.
The thing is, we won't actually know who's bringing up the rear after this next elimination because the leaderboard is now officially in "blackout" mode, meaning they won't be revealing how the numbers shake out in...

CeCe Frey has admitted that she never expected to win The X Factor USA. Frey was eliminated from The X Factor on Thursday's (December 6) live show following weeks of harsh criticism from Simon Cowell. Speaking to MTV News about her exit, the 21-year-old Illinois native acknowledged that it was time for her to leave the series. "I pretty much knew [I wouldn't win]," Frey said. "I mean, I had leopard print on my face, for Christ's sake! I pretty much knew that I wasn't that cookie-cutter girl that you pick to win one of these things, but I knew that I was going to use this and run with it." Frey also expressed hopes that her music career will break the mould of the typical reality (more)...

The remaining X Factor contestants were treated to a brief respite from the stresses of competition on Thursday, when they attended a post-taping party at L.A.’s Mixology hosted by Sony X Headphones. Tate Stevens and Emblem3 burned up the dance floor, while Fifth Harmony hugged well-wishers and Carly Rose Sonenclar laid low (probably to rest her voice). Just hours earlier, mentor Demi Lovato bid her final contestant farewell as CeCe Frey was eliminated from the competition. Now that "The X Factor" is down to the semifinals, Simon Cowell is facing the obvious questions: Will new judges Demi Lovato and Britney Spears be back next year?
"It's that time of year," Cowell says with a grin.
"You're always gonna get asked that question. And I'm not going to answer it!"
But Cowell acknowledges he's bonded with Lovato throughout their first season together, and their on-air feud is something he's come to enjoy. "She's fun," Cowell says about Lovato. "She really, really is a tough little thing. I know she plays, 'I'm being bullied!' Trust me, this one gives as good as she gets."
As for Lovato's harsh words for Emblem3, the boy band Cowell is mentoring, he speculates she knew her own act, CeCe Frey, was in danger of going home: "[Demi] knew she was about to be left with no [contestants] and it did get a bit bitchy and unpleasant.

Whatever Britney Spears is doing as a mentor on "The X Factor," it seems to be working. Her last remaining contestant Carly Rose Sonenclar is a favorite to win and sailed right through tonight's results show into next week's semifinals.
Spears says she sees a bit of herself in the young power singer. "The way [Carly Rose] is kind of shy and then she gets on stage and it's an insane voice," Spears says. "When I was younger, she reminds me a lot of me."
In addition to savvy mentoring, Spears believes Sonenclar benefits from something that can't be taught. "Her personality. She's so cool," Spears says of Sonenclar's strengths. "Like Simon said about her the other night, she has this demeanor. She really gets it. She understands the business and that's what you also need on top of being talented. I think that's her best quality."

Love her or loathe her, CeCe Frey is still going strong on The X Factor. Demi held nothing back on the Dec. 5 episode of 'The X Factor' as she slammed Emblem3 for a terrible performance of Bruno Mars' 'Just The Way You Are.' Even though Demi Lovato may have a crush on one of the members of Emblem3, she slammed them after their "Just The Way You Are" performance on The X Factor on Dec. 5. "It wasn't the best. To me, honestly, I used to really, really love you guys, but to me I feel like it's a downgraded version of The Jonas Brother five years ago," Demi said as she critiqued their performance of "Just The Way You Are," before shrugging her shoulders. Simon countered her critique by saying, "I have to say that was incredibly dumb what you just said actually." Demi Lovato and Simon Cowell continued their "X Factor" feud this week, delivering brutal critiques to their rival's acts: CeCe Frey and Emblem3.
Lovato kicked it off by slamming Emblem3's "unplugged" performance of Bruno Mars' "Just the Way You Are" as "a downgraded version of the Jonas Brothers five years ago." Oh, snap!
"That was incredibly dumb what you just said actually," Cowell responded. But backstage after the show, the guys of Emblem3 had a different take on Lovato's harsh words.
"You know what it is," Drew Chadwick explains. "She's got one of those old school schoolgirl crushes, where the only way she knows how to flirt is by being mean."
"Like Helga from 'Hey Arnold!,'" Keaton Stromberg chimes in. "She has a shrine in her closet."
"You should see Demi's closet!" jokes Chadwick.
The guys admit the judges' bickering can be a distraction, but they're also able to tune it out.

This just in (my brain only): Simon Cowell was so happy with the results of The X Factor‘s Pepsi Challenge — during which viewers weighed in on contestants’ songs, hairstyles, wardrobe and staging — that he wants to extend the intiative for the rest of Season 2. The first of next week’s viewer polls will read as follows:
What change would you like to see behind the judges’ table?
A. Simon buttons his damn shirt already.
B. Britney without tranquilizers!
C. Demi Lovato eyebrow topiary.
D. Paula Abdul’s back…and this time, it’s personal!
E. L.A. Reid chair-dancing exhibition.

His performance wasn't his best last night, but it certainly didn't warrant a pink slip. Call it the curse of the last-minute song change,...

Wednesday night’s “fun” week is over for two singers on Fox’s The X Factor. On Thursday’s show, the competition continued its runs of double eliminations. Strategy was key at this point of the competition. Carly Rose Sonenclar, Tate Stevens and Emblem3 apparently took some risks that paid off on Wednesday. CeCe Frey and Vino Alan also took risks,...Read more»...

"The X Factor" pared its field to the Top 6 on Thursday (Nov. 29), with one surprise elimination and one that was maybe not as big a surprise.
The rankings of the Top 6 didn't hold many huge surprises either -- although it was apparently a very, very tight race for No. 1. According to host Mario Lopez, less than one percentage point separated the three top vote-getters.
Carly Rose Sonnenclar came out on top in the audience vote, with Tate Stevens and Emblem3 right behind her.
At the other end of things, Paige Thomas got Rickrolled early, getting the boot after performing Rick Astley's "Never Gonna Give You Up" on Wednesday's show. The Bottom 2 after her, though, was a bit of a surprise: Vino Alan and Diamond White had to sing for survival -- and had to follow a performance by Alicia Keys.

Let’s breathe a collective sigh of relief for Khloe Kardashian and Mario Lopez. With the number of competitors on Season 2 of The X Factor down to the mid-single digits, neither one of ‘em will have to awkwardly count on their fingers to keep track of the proceedings from now through the season finale. (Okay, maybe that Kardashian woman will have problems till we’re down to the final four, but I digress…)
Anyhow, where our perpetually malfunctioning hostbots dodged a bullet, the X Factor audience was not so lucky. Honestly, is there any sport or competition imaginable — short of...

CeCe Frey has performed strongly in this week's X Factor USA Digital Spy poll. The much-maligned singer, who was advised to "pack a suitcase" by Simon Cowell following her performance of 'Lady Marmalade' last night (November 28), finished joint second in our tally with 14.13%. As usual, it was Carly Rose Sonenclar who stormed the voting, finishing with an imposing 44.47% for her Number Ones week showing, while Emblem3 joined Frey on 14.13%. Less successful were Diamond White and former frontrunner Tate Stevens, who appealed to only 5.26% and 4.64% of users respectively. However, despite (more)...

The X Factor USA contestant CeCe Frey has admitted she was discouraged by the judge's criticism last night. Frey's performance of 'Lady Marmalade' on Wednesday's X Factor live show was panned by Simon Cowell, who advised her to "pack a suitcase". The singer defended her vocals while speaking to reporters after Tuesday's show, telling E! News that she believes her cover of 'Lady Marmalade' went off "without a hitch". "These judges just can't give me a break (more)...

Can someone please, please explain to us what the X Factor judges see in Paige Thomas? Aside from the fact that she's a dead ringer for Rihanna, of course. Seriously, though, did no one else find her performance laughable?
After arguing with mentor Demi Lovato during rehearsals, Paige got her way – dismissing Demi's advice in favor of having a one-woman dance party to Rick Astley's "Never Gonna Give You Up." Wait, we get it now, we just got Rickrolled, right?

We interrupt your regularly scheduled recap with a warning to the quintet of lovely brunettes who make up The X Factor Season 2 girl group Fifth Harmony: Do not stand too close to Khloé Kardashian Odom. She can sense your youth. She is beginning to feed off your effervescence. She has been instructed to assimilate you into the Kardashian collective.
With that housekeeping detail out of the way, we can now focus on the important business of Top 8 performance night: A world premiere “video” from “will.i.ann” (hey, that’s what Mario Lopez called him!) and a robot rendering of Britney Spears 2.0 (airbrushed into submission,...

The Top 8 took the stage this week on "The X Factor" and not very much changed. Tate Stevens was still smooth country, Carly Rose Sonenclar was still a little diva and Emblem3 was still boy band heaven or hell (depending on your point of view).
But the one act to really step up her game was Demi Lovato's Paige Thomas putting a sexy spin on Rick Astley's "Never Gonna Give You Up."
It might be enough to keep her safe after she landed near the bottom of the rankings last week. This week, CeCe Frey and Fifth Harmony may be on their way out.
What did you think of Paige, and who's your "X Factor" favorite?...

Can Carly Rose stay on top? Will CeCe Frey finally sing her way out of the competition? How low can Khloe Kardashian sink as host?
Enough with the pressing X Factor questions... on to this week's performances!
Diamond White, "I Wanna Dance With Somebody" - Whitney Houston once again. The girl's got guts. She's also got a different version of this classic, starting it slowly and very effectively. But the confetti then pours down and the back-up dancers kick in as the tempo speeds up... and it's like White gets lost in the production.
Vino Alan, "You've Lost That Loving Feeling" - Hey, at least it wasn't another patronizing song about America. But it was rather drab, as Demi and Simon both note, with the latter providing the most stinging take: "That was not a $5 million performance." In related news, the sky is blue.

Two more acts bite the dust! Do you think the right ones were sent packing this week? The X Factor's top 10 contestants gave it their all this week, but alas, no one is ever really safe. And on the Nov. 22 episode, the second season's final eight acts were revealed, following two intense exits — only one of which was expected. So who went home tonight? Drumroll please... Beatrice Miller and Arin Ray! Yes, after a "heartbreaking" showdown — those were Khloé Kardashian's words, not mine — with CeCe Frey, Beatrice was given the boot, along with Arin, who everyone should have anticipated. And here's how the surviving eight contestants ranked, according to viewers' votes: 1. Carly Rose Sonenclar 2. Tate Stevens 3. Vino Alan 4. Emblem3 5. Diamond White 6. Paige Thomas 7. Fifth Harmony 8. CeCe Frey Are you stunned by Arin and Beatrice's eliminations, or did you kind of see this coming? Drop us a comment with your thoughts on tonight's episode,...

Thanks for nothing, X Factor. After an enjoyable day of stuffing our belly alongside family and friends, we came home to a total bummer of a double elimination on Thanksgiving night.
While Arin Ray's 10th-place departure from the show was expected – he's been circling the drain for a while – it was the tearful ouster of cutesy pie Beatrice Miller that made us wish we hadn't turned on the TV. (Adding insult to injury was that Paige Thomas got off scott free, somehow avoiding the bottom three despite a poor...

X Factor 2012 eliminated Arin Ray & Beatrice Miller tonight from the final 10. Tonight's elimination show kicked off with a recap of the performances from last night. Then the some of the X Factor contestants did a group performance along with a special choir, consisting of a bunch of middle school kids. After a break, they revealed that Arin Ray got the lowest number of votes last night,so he was eliminated, immediately. I knew Britney would F him up. He was better at singing his own songs instead of these awful songs he's been singing. Anyways, after all that, singing sensation Cher Lloyd hit the stage to sing her new song "Oath," along with rapper Becky G. Next, they brought out all the groups and judges onto the stage to reveal that Diamond White,Vino Alan,Carly Rose Sonenclar, Fifth Harmony, Tate Stevens, Paige Thomas, and Eblem 3 were safe, leaving Beatrice Miller...

Two more acts have been eliminated from The X Factor USA. Arin Ray and Beatrice Miller said their goodbyes on Thursday night's (November 22) results show, following the week's Thanksgiving-themed performances. Former InTENsity singer Ray finished bottom of the public vote and was immediately eliminated, while Miller and CeCe Frey entered the sing-off. Frey performed Kelly Clarkson's 'Because of You', while a tearful Miller - who had been struggling with a heavy cold which affected her vocal quality - sung Dido's 'White Flag'. Simon Cowell made the casting vote, saying that he was concerned the experience was proving to be "too much" for Miller, and that he was sending her home, saying: "I don't think this is the right time for you now... I'm going to send you home." Miller's (more)...

President Obama pardoned not one, but two turkeys. (Congrats, Cobbler and Gobbler!) Most major networks scheduled repeat programming so families and friends could gather around the Thanksgiving table (or plot Black Friday ops with military-style precision). But Simon Cowell, dastardly Brit, scheduled an X Factor results-show telecast.
Wait, what is this? A non-animated airing of How the Grinch Stole Thanksgiving? I mean, Wednesday’s performance show was stuffed to the point of bursting (sorry if that phrase made you reach for the Tums) with haunting and harrowing tales from the Season 2 Top 10′s past. (Read the recap here, if you missed it.
