After working in TV, film and theatre in Cologne in her native Germany, Kim set her sights on a design career in the US, relocating to San Francisco, California in 2001.
Now based in Los Angeles, California, the award-winning production designer, scenic designer, art director, and fine artist has designed stage productions in venues ranging from the Duke Ellington Theatre in Washington, DC to Opera San Jose to LA's Ahmanson, winning several regional awards for her scenic design.
In themed entertainment, she's worked with Walt Disney Imagineering, NBC Universal Creative, Universal Studios Japan, BRC Imagination Arts, Rethink Attractions and others on new attractions from Florida to Hollywood, from Canada to Dubai to Japan.
Themed architecture is also part of her portfolio and passion. Over the years, she has art directed projects in the US and overseas. One of these, Kraftwerk, near Zurich Switzerland, received considerable press for its outstanding design.
Kim created the stage set design for pop duo The Weepies U.S. Summer Acoustic Tour in 2011 kicking off at the Troubadour in Los Angeles.
Her film, television and video work includes production design for a TV series for Dreamworks Awesomeness TV Chat.Like.Love., Syfy's Hot Set design competition show, Yahoo! Screen series Ultimate Proposal, the award-winning film King Eternal, Collector's Café hosted by Larry King, three TV spots featuring pop idol Beyoncé, and other TV commercials.
Kim entered the world of gaming by art directing 2016's Call of Duty XP & Championships at LA's The Forum.
Kim's latest assignment transported her to the land of the rising sun, where she worked with Universal Studios Japan in Osaka through Spring 2018.
