Intentionally or not, Sleeping Dogs invites comparison to Memento. In Adam Cooper’s steadfastly self-serious directorial debut, a bedraggled ex-homicide detective, Roy Freeman (Russell Crowe), is tasked with solving a brutal murder that he can’t recall due to his memory loss. But the comparison to Christopher Nolan’s breakout doesn’t do Sleeping Dogs any favors. For one, we know we’re in trouble from the moment we see Freeman stumbling through a decrepit apartment, its otherwise sparse walls adorned with handwritten messages that exist as much for his benefit as ours, like the unfortunately hilarious “You Have Alzheimers.”
From the start, the film lays it on thick. Freeman’s apartment has all the markers of someone whose mind is slowing deteriorating: staplers that have been left in water glasses, melted pieces of technology in the microwave, and half-eaten meals on top of furniture. The man wears the thickest...

Poker Face is a movie co-written, directed and starring Russell Crowe that also counts with starring roles played by Liam Hemsworth and Elsa Pataky.
A movie that plays many cards, but never centers itself on the actual game.
Premise
Jake Foley is a 57 year-old tech tycoon who has a weakness for poker. He decides to reunite his friends from yonder year for a high-stakes game of poker. The gathering will be less enjoyable than anticipated, as old secrets emerge, rivalries surface, and thieves intrude in the midst of the soirée.
Poker Face (2022) Official Trailer Movie Review
A thriller that takes its time (a long time) to show itself and maneuver as a thriller, and that once it reaches that point it goes on thriller overdrive, betraying the initial tempo. As you know, there are no written rules in this industry, and one might succeed if one innovates enough, or if...

Bruce Willis has a new action thriller coming out called Trauma Center. It’s a hospital survival thriller and Willis takes on the role of Lt. Wakes, “a vengeful police detective determined to solve the murders of his partner and an informant.” As you’ll see, this is the kind of movie that Willis sleepwalks his way through. It’s sad when Willis looks like the least interesting part of the movie.
In the story, Wakes joins forces with Madison, “a witness injured during the shootings. After the killers pursue Madison across the abandoned floor of a hospital, she confirms Wakes’s worst fears: the two men are actually corrupt vice cops covering up a crime. As Wakes vows revenge, this heart-pounding action-thriller reaches an explosive climax.”

"Maddie! Don't make this harder than it already is!" Lionsgate at Home has debuted the first official trailer for a new low-grade action thriller titled Trauma Center, which is one of those vague and terrible titles for a film that doesn't setup anything. Alone and trapped in a locked-down hospital ward overnight, an injured woman must escape a pair of vicious killers who are after the only piece of evidence that can implicate them in a grisly murder - the bullet in her leg. Luckily, a veteran cop is assigned to protect her, and he becomes her protector as the night grows more dangerous. Bruce Willis stars as the cop, and Nicky Whelan as the woman, and also featuring Steve Guttenberg, Tito Ortiz, Texas Battle, Lynn Gilmartin, Tyler Jon Olson, and Heather Johansen. This definitely looks as bad as it sounds, another bargain bin collectible. Here's the first official trailer...

"They're looking for you everywhere." Vitagraph Films has debuted the first official trailer for a peculiar, fascinating indie film titled Museo, from acclaimed Mexican filmmaker Alonso Ruiz Palacios (Güeros). Museo, which translates to Museum, premiered at the Berlin Film Festival earlier this year. Inspired by true events, and shot on never-before filmed locations in Mexico, it's a "sardonic cautionary tale" the reiterates old adage: you don't know what you have until you lose it. Gael Garcia Bernal and Leonardo Ortizgris star as friends in Mexico City who decide to steal 140 pre-Hispanic pieces from the National Museum of Anthropology, but run into some troubles. Also featuring Alfredo Castro, Lynn Gilmartin, Ilse Salas, and Simon Russell Beale. I saw this at Berlinale and it's fantastic, a great film with a deep meaning to it. Here's the first official trailer (+ poster) for Alonso Ruiz Palacios' Museo, direct from YouTube: Well into their 30s,...
