Stephen Curry: Underrated follows the life of Steph Curry and his journey as a basketball star throughout his life.
During the Sundance Film Festival, Sonya Curry, Stephen Curry’s mom, spoke to uInterview founder Erik Meers about signs of greatness when Curry was a child.
“I don’t know if there was ever a moment of greatness but just a moment of love for basketball and love for his family,” Sonya revealed.
“When he turned one we got him a basketball and he turned around and waddled over there and put it in the basket and he turned around and looked at us like, ‘are y’all clapping?’” Sonya continued, “And it was a house full of grown people because he was the first grandbaby in the family so we all clapped and every time he would grab the ball and shoot it he would look at us for clapping.

On Monday night, NBA star Stephen Curry found himself facing a different kind of full-court press — in the form of a mass of reporters lined up on the red carpet at Sundance Film Festival for the world premiere of the new documentary “Underrated,” which chronicles his life and career.
In a lucky bit of scheduling, Curry had the night off from NBA play — it’s mid-season for the reigning NBA Finals Mvp and his team, the Golden State Warriors — so he flew into Park City, Utah to join the filmmakers behind the doc, including director Peter Nicks and producers Ryan Coogler, Erick Peyton and Sean Havey, at its premiere.
The highly anticipated documentary played for a packed house at the Eccles and, before the screening, Curry recalled the first time he watched the finished film, pressing play on a screener in the wee hours of the morning following a game.

Is Steph Curry headed to Wakanda? Possibly!
The NBA icon fielded a two-part question on Monday night in Park City during the audience portion of the post-screening Q&a of his Sundance Film Festival title Stephen Curry: Underrated.
Part one: How has your faith inspired you to get to where you are today? Part two, directed at Curry and producer Ryan Coogler who joined him at center stage: Are you going to be cast in Black Panther 3? After Kolby Mac from Minorities Report got both questions out, Curry nearly doubled over with laughter.
“You tell him if we can see if we can shoot it in the summer and find a nice role for me in that universe — absolutely,” Curry said to lots of laughter from the capacity crowd inside Eccles Theatre. “You put the pressure on, and we’ll see what he says.”

Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry is heading to Utah, not for a game against the Jazz but an event in an entirely different arena: the Sundance Film Festival.
We’re told the future hall of famer intends to make the world premiere of Stephen Curry: Underrated on Monday night, January 23, the documentary about him directed by Peter Nicks and produced by Ryan Coogler, Nicks, Jenelle Lindsay, and Erick Payton.
“The plan is for him to be there… The timing just kind of worked out,” Nicks tells Deadline. “You can never know 100 percent with someone like that… He’s probably going to have to dip out. He’s got practice the next day.”
The film from A24 and Apple Originals documents the two-time league Mvp who wasn’t expected to survive in the NBA, let alone set the record for the most 3-point buckets in a career.
