A group of young people hailing from six different countries take off for a summer vacation in the French countryside. They force their way into an old abandoned house, and plan on spending a good time despite having no water or electricity. But one of them discovers a dusty trunk full of VHS tapes, with a mysterious Vcr that seems able to work without electricity. After they start watching the bizarre movies recorded on the tapes, the students realise that there are strange forces at work, and that their lives might be in danger.

It's hard to believe now, but there was a time when anime and manga were extremely difficult to get hold of. Japanese culture was a distant, exotic and exciting thing in the 80s and 90s, occasionally glimpsed on children's television or in magazines, but largely on the cultural periphery , at least in the UK. The arrival of Akira and Manga Entertainment began the trickle of Japanese comics and animation into the UK, but the internet has since unleashed a flood.
All of this is a means of introducing the first offering in this week's crowdfunding selection - 20-minute film from the Japanese animation house, Studio Trigger. It's proof that, not only does the internet give us ready aspect to all sorts of wonderful things from all over the world,...

FilmMcQueen and Marteau Films are teaming to produce the $2.2 million comedy thriller "Slate and Kelly".
The story centers on Lapd officers Slate and Kelly who team up in Paris to take on a serial killer of drag queens.
Candis Cayne is attached, while Wilson Cruz is being pursued for the role of Kelly. The project marks Jane Clark's second project following "Meth Head" with Tom Sizemore.
'Slate' will be shot on location in France with a mostly French cast. Gautier Cazenave, Jean-Noël Georgel and John W. McLaughlin will produce.
