- He sold his first screenplay in 1998 to Dreamland Productions (The Stripling Warriors). The movie spent 4 weeks in production and then was terminated due to funding issues.
- James was accepted into International Cinematographers Guild Local 600 in June of 2005. He joined the Army and decided to wait until after his military service to re-qualify.
- James left the film industry to serve his Country, hence his long break in credits. He was a combat medic in the US Army and spent almost his entire service overseas.
- Was given his first SLR camera (Minolta XT-1) when he was 13 years old. Has over a million photos in his archives.
