Production has been completed on That One Time, an independent pilot for Lucky 13 Productions that was directed and created by Melanie Wagor, a 2020 DGA Director Development Initiative protégé.
Dermot Mulroney and newcomer Dylan Flashner star in the project, written by Wagor and Cameron Northey. Wagor and Joel Michaely are executive producers, and Northey is co-executive producer.
The pilot follows a diverse group of high school students as they struggle to define themselves while contending with what it means to be a teenager in 2019 – a time fraught with sex, drugs, social media, turbulent friendships, dysfunctional families and rapid societal change.
Jenna Leigh Green, Yazmin Monet Watkins, Troy Gentile, Ryan Malaty, Dana Melanie, Michelle DeShon and Robyn Lively are also in the cast.

Not since Gidget went Hawaiian have youthful hijinks in a mildly exotic setting seemed so old-fogeyish as they do in “Baja.” This tame, tepid road-trip comedy is notably short on laughs — save for a few unintentional ones when it tries to channel serious drama. It’s hard to know just what audience writer-director Tony Vidal was aiming for, beyond perhaps teens of a couple generations ago. Nonetheless, the self-distributed film is opening on 20-odd (mostly AMC) screens this Friday.
Southern California suburbanite Bryan (former “Lizzie McGuire” cast regular Jake Thomas) is too nice for his own good — he gets pushed around too easily by both his parents (Cynthia Stevenson, Kurt Fuller) and his exploitative sporting goods store boss (Randy Nazarian). Amid its recent rebranding, USA can’t get no (more) Satisfaction, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The drama, about a married man who starts moonlighting as an escort after catching his wife in the throes of paid-for passion, lasted two seasons before getting the axe, but its long-term prospects seemed dismal from its inauspicious debut onward.
The writing was on the wall earlier this season, when USA quietly dumped the series in the Friday night death slot, letting it burn through its last ordered episodes then declining to order more. Suits exec producer Sean Jablonski was behind the show, which starred Matt Passmore and Stephanie Szostak as the married couple. Blair Redford, Katherine Lanasa, Michelle DeShon, and Deanna Russo also had main roles.
Satisfaction‘s fate has likely been sealed for quite some time, given that, before the news was even announced, Jablonski had locked down a deal with Netflix...
