Michael Jarvie was born in Darlington in 1958.
He studied at Birmingham City University where he obtained a BA Honours Degree in English Language and Literature (2:1) graduating in 1983.
In 2015 he was awarded an MA with Distinction in Creative Writing from Teesside University.
His composite novel/short story collection entitled "The Prison" was published in January 2017. He is the author of three other published books - the thriller "Black Art", "Georg Trakl: Autumnal Elegies" and "Into the Silence: A Collection of Working-Class Life Writing".
He has written a number of screenplays and is one of the writers for the full-length feature "Give Them Wings." In addition he co-wrote the concept trailer for that work and was involved as one of its producers, acting as Executive Producer for the award-winning short film "An Unfortunate Woman."
