Dateline: Townsville USA, right smack dab in the middle of the Arrowverse. A Powerpuff Girls live-action series is in development at The CW according to Variety. But it isn’t being prepared in Professor Utonium’s lab.
The new take on The Powerpuff Girls comes from the desk of Greg Berlanti, the mastermind behind The CW’s Arrowverse. Berlanti Productions will be working with Warner Bros. TV. The script will be written by Heather Reigner (Veronica Mars), and screenwriter Diablo Cody, who wrote the book for Broadway’s Jagged Little Pill. A spoonful of sugar may wash that medicine down, but will they bring that Chemical X?
The project is based on Craig McCracken’s classic animated Cartoon Network series, and will center on adult versions of Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup. But they aren’t kindergarten superheroes anymore and they don’t have to save the world before bedtime. The...

Arrowverse architect Greg Berlanti is ushering in a new group of superheroes at the CW.
The network has put in development The Powerpuff Girls, a live-action series based on the original Cartoon Network animated series created by Craig McCracken. The project, featuring adult versions of the three kindergarten-aged girls from the classic animated series, hails from Diablo Cody, Heather Regnier (Veronica Mars), Warner Bros. TV and studio-based Berlanti Productions.
The Powerpuff Girls used to be America’s pint-sized superheroes. Now they’re disillusioned twentysomethings who resent having lost their childhood to crime fighting. Will they agree to reunite now that the world needs them more than ever?
Cody and Regnier are writing the script. Regnier is executive producing alongside Cody via Vita Vera Films and Berlanti Prods.’ Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter and David Madden. Warner Bros. Television, a Cartoon Network sibling within the WarnerMedia umbrella,...

At San Diego Comic Con, we were so lucky to interview the Powderpuff Girls cast & writers. Cartoon Network rebooted the series this year with new writes & voices and while change is hard (Ppg was one of the defining cartoons of our childhood) we really warmed up to Amanda Leighton (Blossom), Kristen Li (Bubbles) and Natalie Palamides (Buttercup). We also got to talk to some of the writers Jake Goldman & Hayley Mancini (also the voice of Princess Morebucks) and the producers Nick Jennings & Bob Boyle. We talked a lot about how the Powerpuff brand of feminism has been updated for 2016 and what it’s like to be voice actors and what kind of choices go into voicing such iconic characters. There’s so much to talk about!

The new "Powerpuff Girls" are here, and while they don't look much different from their predecessors, they'll have a new sound.
Cartoon Network has unveiled the first image from the rebooted series, and also announced who would be voicing the titular trio of pint-sized superheroes: Amanda Leighton will play Blossom, Kristen Li will play Bubbles, and Natalie Palamides will play Buttercup. Tom Kenny, who played the Narrator/Mayor in the first series, will reprise his role on the new show.
The creative team behind the reimagined "Powerpuff" includes "Adventure Time" vet Nick Jennings, and the network noted that many of the artists and writers behind the new version grew up watching the original, which ran on Cn for 78 episodes starting in 1998. A standalone movie, "The Powerpuff Girls: Dance Pantsed," aired on Cartoon Network in 2014.
