- Actor
- Composer
- Music Artist
Christian Jahl was born in Düsseldorf, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. Christian is an actor and composer, known for Dschungelkind (2011). He spent most of his life in Düsseldorf with longer stays in London. After finishing high school he studied Musicology, German and English Literature at the University of Cologne, where he completed his academic education as a Master of Arts.
In his youth he started to gain interest in music after exploring his parent's record collection. All of a sudden he found himself listening endlessly to The Beatles, Glenn Miller or Smetana's Má Vlast without knowing what it was. The music simply touched him somehow. But it took a while until he started playing music by learning guitar. At school as a teenager Christian founded a first band with class mates and together they produced their first own songs and played gigs with youthful enthusiasm and it worked. The most important thing to him was to write music and lyrics.
After his time at school he completed his civilian service and did not join the army. While studying musicology he played in various bands and was invited to record tracks as guitarist for students at audio engineer schools like the noted SAE Institute, where he learned how to work in state of the art recording studios. He also began producing music pieces for media projects with band mates.
Aside playing music, writing got more important. Jahl's first poems and a monograph about Sting were published. Later his first single "Sie ist weg" was released by established publishing house Minerva Music, who he collaborated with as artist and consultant for many years. The Single "Sie Ist Weg" is the German cover version of "She's Not There" by The Zombies e.g. from the Kill Bill: Vol. 2 (2004) soundtrack.
After that period he founded the music production company Smiling Lizard Music to license, produce and publish music. Since then Jahl produced several albums and music on request, both as solo artist and producer. He also worked as an actor and published more poetry. The most important thing to him still is the connection between music, words and stories.
