Exclusive: The Starz #TakeTheLead Writers’ Intensive has selected Corey Dashaun, Gabriela Revilla Lugo, John Lowe, Naiyah Ambros, Raymond Arturo Perez, and Tennessee Martin as the program’s finalists.
The second and final phase, which kicks off on October 3, will see the 6 writers develop, write and pitch a spec episode script for a current Starz series with the support of writers Danny Fernandez and Sahar Jahani as well as Starz executives Samantha Offsay-Nissen, Senior Vice President, Original Programming; Alex Alberts, Director, Original Programming; Giovanna Desselle, Director, Original Programming; and Tara Roy, Director, Original Programming.
The program will wrap on November 4th when participants will pitch their spec episode to the Starz programming team.

Exclusive: Starz is developing the new comedy series Plan A from writer and executive producer Steven J. Kung centering on the Asian American experience. Kung will reunite with Dear White People‘s Justin Simien, who will executive produce through his production company Culture Machine, and Leann Bowen who will serve as showrunner and EP.

Coalition of Asian Pacifics in Entertainment (Cape) has unveiled the executives selected for their fourth annual Cape Leaders Fellowship, an industry-leading accelerator for rising junior media executives designed to propel them to the senior ranks.
The fellowship is modeled after the Cape New Writers Fellowship and fosters the next generation of creative executives with the skills and professional network to break into the VP ranks and beyond. The program helps pave the path for executives of the Aapi community to take senior, decision-making positions that will help bolster change in the film and TV industry. Throughout August and September, the selected Fellows will participate in masterclasses, workshops, roundtables, and one-on-one mentoring sessions with high-level industry executives.
