Last June there was word that a feature film based on Bored to Death, the cancelled TV show, was in the works. While most films like this never end up being made (Veronica Mars, for example), it looks like HBO is still serious about this one.
THR reports that HBO has released this logline: "Jonathan, Ray, and George reunite to fight crime, commit crime, lose their minds and fail at love in a Bored to Death feature-length slapstick adventure."
Bored to Death creator Jonathan Ames will write and executive produce the project and Sarah Condon and Stephanie Davis (who worked on the show) will also executive produce.
Series star Jason Schwartzman has said that he'd love to make the movie and Ted Danson has said that he would be on board as well.
There hasn't been any word...

A Bored to Death movie is in the works at HBO, according to THR. The feature film would "continue the quirky adventures of the Brooklyn-based writer/amateur private eye" played by Jason Schwartzman. Author-essayist Jonathan Ames created the show, which also starred Zach Galifianakis and Ted Danson.
Ames is writing and executive producing the film, and Sarah Condon and Stephanie Davis are also serving as exec producer. The cast would reprise their roles for the film, which has the following logline:
Jonathan, Ray, and George reunite to fight crime, commit crime, lose their minds and fail at love in a Bored to Death feature-length slapstick adventure.
I never regularly watched the show, but I laughed my ass off when I did. The series had some solid ratings during the first two seasons, but they dropped drastically during the third. It will be interesting to see if there is still interest in a movie.

The long-rumored "Bored to Death" movie is officially in development, The Huffington Post has confirmed.
The feature-length project is being produced by HBO Films, and will be written by the show's creator, Jonathan Ames, with Sarah Condon and Stephanie Davis executive producing.
The series, which starred Jason Schwartzman, Ted Danson and Zach Galifianakis, ran for three seasons on HBO between 2009 and 2011, and centered around the misadventures of author-turned-private detective Jonathan (Schwartzman), and his hapless friends Ray (Galifianakis) and George (Danson).
The film's logline is fairly vague, but provides an idea of what we can expect if the film goes forward: "Jonathan, Ray, and George reunite to fight crime, commit crime, lose their minds and fail at love in a Bored to Death feature-length slapstick adventure."

Rumors of a movie continuation of "Bored to Death," the Jonathan Ames-created quirky comedy that HBO canceled after three seasons in 2011, have been percolating ever since Ted Danson, one of its stars, started telling the press that a deal was close to being signed in October of 2012. An actor mentioning that a script is being worked on is still far from a project being a done deal, but today the Hollywood Reporter writes that a "Bored to Death" film is indeed in development at the premium cable channel. The project will focus on the continuing adventures of Brooklyn-based novelist turned unlicensed private investigator Jonathan (Jason Schwartzman), his graphic novelist friend Ray (Zach Galifianakis) and his perpetually high former editor George (Danson). Ames will write the project and executive produce it alongside Sarah Condon and Stephanie Davis. According to the Hollywood Reporter, the film's logline reads "Jonathan, Ray,...

Rumored ever since it went off the air in late 2011, HBO's Bored to Death is targeting a second life as a feature film. The Hollywood Reporter says that a script that continues the adventures of Jonathan (Jason Schwartzman), Ray (Zach Galifianakis) and George (Ted Danson) is in the works from series creator Jonathan Ames. The series, which merged classic hard boiled detective narratives with a modern-day comedy drama set in New York, ran for three seasons on HBO and ended on a bit of a cliffhanger that, if the movie version gets the green light, will be followed up on on the big screen. In addition to writing, Ames will executive produce alongside Sarah Condon and Stephanie Davis.

Horrible Bosses director Seth Gordon has set up two more hourlong projects, Run Black at Fox and Bar Scene at NBC. Both are produced by Sony Pictures TV, where Gordon and his Exhibit A are under an overall deal. Run Black is being written by former Criminal Minds showrunner Simon Mirren, who also has a deal at Sony TV. It centers on a brilliant and dangerous prisoner who is given a chance to reduce his sentence when the FBI recruits him to partner up with a book-smart but painfully naive agent to infiltrate and dismantle a criminal empire on the outside. Mirren and Gordon executive produce, with Gordon possibly directing. NBC’s Bar Scene, from writers/exec producers Chris Alberghini and Mike Chessler (90210), is based on the life of Jackie Davis, who is a series co-creator. It is about a team of misfit lawyers who start their own practice. Davis’ sister,...
