- From the age of 4, until she was a teenager, Romina Arena was a Mouseketeer for Disney in Italy (Topolino) during that time she was classically trained as a singer and dancer and has been in the entertainment business all her life. As a teenager, after a successful ground breaking concert at the Sidney Opera House in Australia, she suffered a vicious attack at the hands of a jealous entertainer prior to a prime time show in Italy, having her vocal cords severed, and suffering from a severe brain injury, at the edge of life and death, in a hospital bed for months. With true determination, over a three year recovery period, Romina not only survived the attack and completely recovered her singing voice but gained a reach of a five octave vocal range to become an International singing star. A pioneer, although still at a young age, sits on the forefront of a new genre of music called Pop Classical Crossover or Operatic Pop also known as Popera, a very commercially accessible high end genre of music. Romina is not only a Mezzo Soprano but also her incredible power as a female tenor earned her the title La Tenorette, & the Queen of Popera by the media on an international scale. Recently Romina reunited with her long time mentor Oscar award winning film composer Maestro Ennio Morricone who chose her to write and sing lyrics to his most famous movie scores of all time. After 20 years in the making, the duo collaborated on their new album together "Morricone.Uncovered and was released September 2012. Romina is not only a songwriter but a composer for film TV and advertising as well as a published author, speaker, screenwriter, creative producer and a music supervisor.
