Jeff Becker(VIII)

Jeff was born and raised in Altoona, Pennsylvania. In 1999 he and his
family moved to Panama City, Florida. Jeff is the son of Ray and Vivian
Becker. He is the fifth child in a family of six and knew from a very
early age he wanted to be a Law Enforcement Officer. Jeff attended the
Pennsylvania State University and Gulf Coast State College. He obtained
his Law Enforcement Training and graduated in 2001. He was hired by the
Panama City Police Department in March of 2000 as a Telecommunicator
and worked in that capacity while attending the police academy. On
September 4, 2011 Jeff was hired as a Police Officer with the
department. After five years on patrol Jeff was promoted to Detective.
In 2007 he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and in 2009 he was
approached by Chief John Van Etten to become the department's Public
Information Officer. On December 14, 2010 a gunman entered the Bay
County School Board meeting and held the school board members hostage.
Jeff handled the storm of media and all the request that followed the
story. Jeff continues to work at the Panama City Police Department and
continues to do speaking engagements on the Bay County School Board
incident and the media frenzy that followed.
