While Season 2 of “Wheel of Time” concluded Friday, filming on the Prime Video fantasy series’ third season had already started filming prior to the SAG-AFTRA strike.
“I am speaking to you a day after filming it. We are in the midst of it. We are all energized by everything that’s going on in Season 3,” star Rosamund Pike told TheWrap in a June 28 interview, days before the onset of actors’ guild strike. “We feel like we’ve established the rules of our world, we can explore them and push the boundaries, we can do more experimental camera work and we can try and get a visual language for these incredible concepts that [author] Robert Jordan came up with.”
She said that casting for Season 3 has been shaping up “really, really, really well.”

Prime Video dropped a sneak peek of “Wheel of Time” Season 2 ahead of its release on Sept. 1, which fans can now watch at the end of last season’s finale.
According to the Amazon-owned streamer, the special look “reflects the structure of the best-selling and epic “The Wheel of Time” book series by Robert Jordan,” in which he would add the first chapter of the next book as a preview.
The scene, which opens the first episode of the second season, is an adaptation of the fan favorite “Darkfriend Social” prologue of the second novel of Jordan’s series, “The Great Hunt,” upon which “Wheel of Time” Season 2 is largely based. It’s also based on some elements of Jordan’s third novel, “The Dragon Reborn.”

Prime Video released the official key art from the second season of ‘The Wheel of Time’. Based on the best-selling Robert Jordan fantasy series The Wheel of Time, Rand al’Thor learns he is The Dragon Reborn – a dangerous figure from history destined to save the world … or break it. Desperate to protect him from the Dark One, an army of powerful women must reckon with his burgeoning power and encroaching madness.
The Wheel of Time turns, and the Last Battle approaches. Though Rand thought he destroyed the Dark One, evil is not gone from the world. In Season Two, threats new and very old seek out the young friends from the Two Rivers, now scattered over the world. The woman who found and guided them is now powerless to help, and so they must find other sources of strength. In each other, or themselves. In the Light… or the Dark.

The Blacklist, Season 1, Episode 17: “Ivan”
Written by J. R. Orci & Amanda Kate Shuman
Directed by Randy Zisk
Airs Mondays at 10pm Est on NBC
The scene viewers have been begging to see play out finally occurs this week- Elizabeth Keen finally finds her husband’s secret spy shed and learns that he has been lying from the beginning about who he really is. While that scene may have been the payoff for viewers who wanted confrontation between the two newlyweds, Red’s mission to discover copycat Ivan’s plans for a tech device is what keeps this episode from going off the rails.
Ivan is probably the weakest villain of the week yet, mainly because the antagonist is a teenager with a crush; it’s hard to imagine viewers having sympathy for fake Ivan if the power in their apartments went out because of him. The problem with this...

The Blacklist, Season 1, Episode 9: “General Ludd”
Written by Amanda Kate Shuman
Directed by Stephen Surjik
Airs Mondays on NBC at 10pm Et
“General Ludd” can be chalked up as one of The Blacklist‘s more sub-par episodes. There is nothing remarkable or terrible about the episode as a whole. It settles for being merely serviceable, which is nothing short of disappointing. After a cargo plane is brought down by General Ludd, an anarchist organization hopes to destabilize America’s economy and essentially believes that capitalism is evil, led by Blacklister Nathaniel Wolfe (Justin Kirk), a master of disguise who has gone by a multitude of different names over the years.
The show might have been reaching for something subtextual with Nathaniel Wolfe this week, but Kirk has no weight as a villain. It’s always difficult to be the face of a group that might have very different, but...

The Following, Season 1, Episode 12: “The Curse”
Written by Seamus Kevin Fahey & Amanda Kate Shuman
Directed by David Von Ancken
Aired Mondays at 9pm (Et) on Fox
From the file of Too Little Too Late comes “The Curse,” an episode that contrives for our hero and villain to cross paths and have a discussion all about Ryan’s motivations for how he acts… now, three episodes before the end.
Yes, Joe can put together an entire cult, create an entire brainwashing compound, escape from maximum security prison twice, and become the most notorious killer the United States has ever seen, yet “he” can’t think of an ending for his book. To do so, “he” needs to call up Ryan and see what drove his main character in the first place. And no, “he” is not Kevin Williamson whatsoever, so buzz off! It is weird, though that Joe would begin this endeavor,...

The Following, Season 1, Episode 8: “Welcome Home”
Written by Amanda Kate Shuman
Directed by Joshua Butler
Aired Mondays at 9pm (Et) on Fox
Ryan: “Nobody likes me.”
Mike: “Well, you’re inconsistent and extreme.”
The Following takes the one baby-step forward and two giant leaps back approach this week, addressing many inconsistencies in the show, as poked at in the above line, but also taking no time in waving them away at an alarming rate—all in favor of building up one of its most pointlessly violent, stomach-turning episodes yet.
It starts off with the whole Joe Carroll fiasco acknowledged as the “bureau nightmare” it is (although they left out that it’s only called that on a good day). Reference is made to the media circus ensuing, and a supervisor is finally brought in to take over who’s a little less, let’s say, witness-banging, as should have happened many times before.
