Brian Case is a Canadian professional composer for film, trombonist, and musicologist.
Brian began studying the trombone at fourteen and playing it through all of high school. Upon graduating secondary school, Brian was awarded all of the music scholarships and bursaries, and acceptance to Humber College, University of Toronto, and York University. After accepting his offer to the York University Music Specialized Honours program, Brian excelled in his years there, performing with the YU Jazz Workshop, YU Symphony Orchestra, and was featured in the YU Jazz Orchestra (Mike Cadò), YU Wind Symphony (William Thomas), and YU Brass Ensemble/Quintet (James MacDonald). Brian has performed as principal trombone with the Hart House Jazz Ensemble, Orchestra Toronto and the Kindred Spirits Orchestra. Brian also composes for concert ensembles as well as for films.
Following his many years in the Toronto music industry while attending York University, Brian graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts with Specialized Honours and was accepted into the Master of Arts, Musicology program at City University London in London, England.
Brian's main focus is music for film and he has composed in the Canadian film industry since starting his undergraduate degree in Toronto. Some of his films include Leigh Ann Bellamy's Peculiar Mrs. Perkins (CuriousYou Productions, 2011/OUAT Media), Pretty Pieces (CuriousYou Productions, 2012), Fault (CuriousYou Productions, 2015), and Jayson Stewart's The Darkest Dawn (2015, expected).
