Mark Forbes is a London based, self-taught independent award-winning Scottish filmmaker from Aberdeenshire. In 2018, Mark wrote, directed, produced, edited, co-filmed and co-financed his first indie feature drama, 'Mother & Wild' which was released in 2022 where it won numerous awards for best Indie feature while premiering at the Hastings Rocks International Film Festival.
In 2023 Mark had 5 of his films screened across 86 film festivals.
Mark is a member of BECTU.
While Mark's other films are documentaries: the award-winning second feature 'Tristan v Christann' and 'Memories of Mortlake' which was screened in over 40 film festivals and won 8 awards for best short documentary. In mid July 2023, director, Ken Loach, in a London screening, said that 'Memories of Mortlake' was a very touching film made by a passionate filmmaker.
Mark exclusively self-shoots and edits all his documentary films entirely by himself.
Gaynor Holmes at BBC Studios Scotland said "Mark's award-winning documentaries were astonishing, as they were made with no budget or actual film crew".
Since July 2023, Mark has been filming his 3rd feature film, a documentary about the struggles of people breaking into film & TV industries in the UK.
