- Ibrahim Karatay (aka Ibo Karatay) is a Dutch director, scriptwriter and producer. After purchasing his bachelor's degree in Public Administration in the city of The Hague, he started the pre-master Film and Television Studies at The Utrecht University. During his study he also was working on film sets to gain experience. Ibrahim as producer and writer/director has experience in the artistic and creative development and realization of films with theatrical release. As main producer as well as co-producer he has realized films that have been screened in the official selections of amongst others Cannes Cinéfondation, Karlovy Vary IFF, DocuFest International Documentary and Short FF, Sarajevo FF and International Film Festival Rotterdam. One of his recent films as a co-producer, Nasir (2020) by Arun Karthick from Tamil Nadu, had its world premiere in the Tiger Awards competition at IFFR, won NETPAC Award and was subsequently released in more than 18 cinemas in the Netherlands. It has also been selected for both New Directors New Films and Mumbai Film Festival (2020). Ibrahim is the Executive Producer for Özcan Alper's new crime thriller Black Night, starring Berkay Ates, Taner Birsel and Sibel Kekilli. MARIONETTES by Arianne Hinz, is his most recent fiction feature in development and it has been selected for Sources2 Script Development Workshop, BoostNL (2021) -a collaboration of IFFR CineMart and NFF Holland Film Meeting- and Cannes Marché du Film.
His debut film as writer/director Shadow of Violence (2020) was shot in Turkey and premiered at IFFR in 2020. The film was also in the selection of Golden Calf and the best Debut Competition of the Netherlands Film Festival. The film won best film price at Roots Film Festival.
