Tillery Johnson
- Writer
- Actor
- Second Unit Director or Assistant Director
Born in eastern North Carolina, Tillery grew up in a small rural town among tobacco farms and country roads. To escape the boredom he developed an overactive imagination, writing poems and rip offs of popular YA novels. In 9th grade, he moved away to attend high school at Woodberry Forest in Virginia, where sports and music took precedence over writing for his first three years until a short story assignment reignited his interest in creative writing.
Tillery went to the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill to study music but changed his major to English literature and minored in creative writing after his freshman year. Although his writing focus was fiction at the time, to fulfill a requirement for his minor he took a screenwriting class and liked the form. A TV workshop with Dave Krinsky and John Altschuler convinced him to pursue comedy. Shortly after, he began performing improv at DSI until moving to LA after graduation where he continued to perform at UCB and iO West.
In 2016 he was accepted into the Nickelodeon Writers' Program and was staffed on a Nickelodeon show after the program's conclusion.
