"Survivor: Nicaragua" had an historical moment on Wednesday night (Dec. 1) when NaOnka Mixon and Kelly Shinn quit the game after 28 days, only 11 days from the end. They tell Zap2it in their joint exit interview why they quit and that they don't feel bad about it.
Even though you quit the show, are you still glad you went on "Survivor"?
Kelly: "I am so glad. I think 'Survivor' is the opportunity and experience of a lifetime. I think it was incredible, even if it was not always beautiful and wonderful. I spent some of the worst days of my life in Nicaragua, but that was part of the experience. I would not have changed anything. I'm so happy to have been a part of 'Survivor: Nicaragua.'"
NaOnka: "I am so blessed to have gotten the opportunity to have been one of the chosen few African-Americans...

For those of you unaware, and I was one of those until about an hour before air time on the East Coast, tonight's episode of Survivor (November 24) was a Recap show of the first half of the season. I hate Recap shows, as I'm sure most of you do as well...as a matter of fact, that picture above shows my level of excitement over this episode.
We didn't really learn anything new tonight, except that Jimmy T. was even more annoying than we saw in the early episodes, apparently there was a sale on pink underwear before the Survivors left for Nicaragua, Jane didn't always look like a witch (and she starved herself in advance of the show!), Fabio rubs his eyes after touching hot peppers, and NaOnka's on-screen confessionals now warrant the theme from Jaws.
Speaking of on-camera confessionals, Purple Kelly finally got one! Although she basically...

If you missed the elimination of my pre-season favorite, Brenda, make sure to catch up with my recap here.
This week's Survivor is the traditional pre-Thanksgiving recap episode that takes a look back at the season so far by using unaired clips from the first ten episodes. As there is no new narrative to detail, and it's Thanksgiving weekend here in the States, let's just take a look at some of the highlights of the special.
--When Espada first got to their beach, Jimmy J, Jimmy T, Marty and Tyrone had a bit of a battle of testosterone to see who was going to be the leader in camp. They were eventually able to put their egos aside (a bit) to complete the shelter, but perhaps they should have worked together better because during that first night, the shelter collapsed under the weight of the tribe.

It’s pretty obvious if you want to be smart strategically in this game, you pick somebody who’s a pawn. And I’m a pawn.
Moments before Alina was sent home this week by a majority of her former La Flor tribe mates, she uttered the above plea to keep her. The rationale is accurate, but her assessment of her own place in the game was flawed, perhaps intentionally.
Is this man the king of Survivor: Nicaragua
Alina was not a pawn. Pawns can only move forward one space and can only attack diagonally. The breadth of her game had more depth than the isolated movements of a pawn. Alina is a far more dangerous knight who can move two spaces in one direction and then one space perpendicular in a different direction. All in one move. As she said herself, she was going to try and scramble as...

To hear Yve Rojas tell it, she has many people to blame for her early exit from Survivor: Nicaragua. She points the finger at Tyrone Davis for eating too much, at Dan Lembo for complaining too much, and at herself for dropping the ball. But the most surprising person the 41-year-old homemaker blames is host Jeff Probst. "I think Jeff threw me under the bus a little bit when he said, 'Why wouldn't you keep someone like Dan around?" Rojas said. She talked with TVGuide.com about why she failed to connect with her teammates, why she wanted Dan to go, and what her tribe needs to do to...

Are you glad you did "Survivor"?
"I'm so glad I did "Survivor" and so grateful that I was invited to participate. So often we say we can do something, but we rarely follow through and this was one of those times that I thought, 'Wow, I'm goign to have a little bit of perseverance to show my girls that their mom is a go-getter.' It was much more brutal than people could ever know without actually having the opportunity to go out there and fight for themselves in the game, but I'd do it again."
What did you think of the initial division between the tribes, older versus younger?

Did you miss last week’s tribe shuffle? Check out my recap here.
This week’s episode of Survivor begins at Espada after yet another Tribal Council and the ouster of Tyrone. There is a storm rolling in, which Dan can not abide. He wants to quit because he can’t deal with another twenty days of rain. Holly tries to encourage him, but confesses to the camera that quitting is the easy way out. “You’ve signed up for something — suck it up and finish!” Yve and Holly collect wood, when Yve asks why she wasn’t let in on the tribe voting for Tyrone. She would have went along without a fuss, so she what’s to know what’s up. Holly says that she and Dan weren’t so sure Yve would vote with them because they thought she and Tyrone had an alliance. Yve assures Holly that she didn’t.

Survivor: Nicaragua star Tyrone Davis has suggested that his elimination from the show may have been racially motivated. Speaking to People, the 42-year-old argued that accusations of bossiness surrounding his departure may have stemmed from the tribe's preconceived notions about his race. "Please don't spin it that I was playing the race card, but things took place that weren't shown on TV that lead me to believe that [race] was a [possible motivation] with some people, like the unfounded intimidation comment. "I didn't do anything to try to intimidate anyone. I wasn't barking (more)...

Despite the shakeup that ended Nicaragua's older-versus-younger gimmick, another member of the original "Team Geezer" was sent packing on Survivor this week. Fire captain Tyrone Davis, 42, spoke with People from his home in Inglewood, Calif., about his controversial chicken consumption, playing with the kids and possible racial tension in the jungle. Let's get the most important question out of the way. How much of that chicken did you actually eat? Not a lot at all, seriously. I was the last to get a piece of chicken. I made sure everyone got some first and then I cleaned their bones when they were done.

Survivor: Nicaragua's Tyrone Davis wants to clarify that no, he wasn't voted home because of the chicken. (The show suggested that when it was time to eat, he ate more than his share — which he...

On Wednesday night's (Oct. 13) "Survivor: Nicaragua," the two tribes previously divided by age were jumbled into two new tribe and Tyrone Davis paid the price, as the youngsters that joined his tribe ousted him. He tells Zap2it about his experience on the show and that he isn't really rooting for anyone who is left.
Are you glad you want on "Survivor?" Was it everything you hoped it would be?
"Yeah, I'm ecstatic that I went on Survivor. Great experience, great opportunity, great adventure. I don't have anything bad to say about it. I was fortunate to have been selected."
Was it harder than you thought it was going to be?
"No, it was not harder than I thought it was going to be. Hard is a relative term, it depends on the things you've been through in life. A lot of the people on my tribe were whiny. It wasn't easy,...

What fun is Survivor if we can't taunt its losers for being such losers? Behold, Tyrone: Last night he screwed the pooch and bit the chicken thigh (I'll explain) when it came to acting as a leader. Common sense pointed to delirious, head-swishing NaOnka getting the boot, but common sense is among the quieter team members this season, so she stayed. Oh, Tyrone. Time to figure out where you went wrong.

What a lovely group of people we are meeting this season on Survivor: Nicaragua. At least Shannon was sent home after his homophic harangue, but nasty NaOnka remains. And according to last night's eliminee, she's sharing space with some more vile characters who aren't exactly politically correct themselves... Tyrone Davis, arguably this game's most noble contestant, said he heard both Jill and Holly utter racist remarks Tyrone told me that while he was talking to Brooklynite Dan about his hometown, Jill said, "I would never go there." "Why not?" T.D. asked, and he claimed Jill responded, "Because there are black people there!" He added that she even made the distinction between...

Lady Gaga: I'm ok with killing one of the chickens now. Survivor is full of surprises, especially with the formation of new tribes, so it benefited the current tribe...

“Turf Wars” opens with Espada, once again, having returned to camp after Tribal Council. As Marty stokes the fire, Holly comments that Jimmy T was really a good guy, who worked hard. She confesses to the camera that she had absolutely no idea Jimmy was being voted out. She thought they were voting out the weakest member of the tribe, which is clearly Dan. Now, she knows that she is on the outs with her tribe, so something needs to change, and quickly.
The next morning, Marty confides that Tribal Council was a “slam dunk.” It is now clear that he’s in charge. He tells Dan that they are in a good position. Dan says he was shocked that Jane and Holly voted against him. Marty replies that those omen have signed their own death warrants. Back to the camera,...

Survivor: Nicaragua had it's best episode of the season last night. The once weak Espada tribe was given new life when four members of La Flor joined forces with Holly, Dan, Yve and Tyrone. Unfortunately for Tyrone Davis, the one-time frontrunner just couldn't keep his appetite in check to last another day. I had a chance to talk with the Fire Captain from Inglewood, CA about his Survivor experience, and you are never going to believe who he is rooting for to win the game.
How are you doing Tyrone?
I'm doing fantastically well thank you.
I really didn't think I'd be talking to you this early.
Hey I appreciate that.

The theme of this week’s episode of Survivor titled “Turf Wars” was the surprises the castaways somehow did not see coming.
Marty and Jud (among others) were shocked that the tribes were being mixed up. Tyrone was stunned that his aggressive attitude and petulance over the chicken got him voted off. Despite both of these occurrences being Survivor staples, none of the contestants saw them coming.
Leading up to tonight’s episode, privately I bemoaned the fact that CBS was airing advertisements for Survivor announcing the tribe switch-up. I’m the type of fan who does not like to watch the previews if I can avoid them because it makes even the smallest of twists more interesting to me (yes, this makes watching football on Sunday’s challenging). The fact is, in my 21st season of watching, not every twist is surprising anymore.
After the fact, however, I have to give the producers credit.

Argh! I haven't been this frustrated with Survivor since Lill's return to Pearl Islands. What is wrong with this Nicaragua cast and their collective suck? With Tyrone's ouster, we lost a strong player, an interesting personality and an expert eyebrow cocker. Meanwhile, Nasty NaOnka and useless Dan remain to not entertain us in the slightest. Blindside? What Blindside? Tyrone might have been surprised, but the only person blindsided at Tribal Council was Jeff Probst himself, who told me in Nicaragua, "I don't think Jimmy T. or Jimmy J. or Marty or Tyrone or Jill are going anywhere." God love him, he also believed the Medallion of Power and the tribal age divisions were good...

Tyrone Davis is too abrasive when the tribes are switched up and the young 'uns send him home on the latest "Survivor: Nicaragua."
Post-Tribal
The oldies aren't too sad that Jimmy T. was sent packing. They dispense with the post-tribal within the first five minutes. Luckily, when they get to the challenge, Jeff switches the tribes up.

Did you miss last week’s ouster of NFL Great Jimmy Johnson? Catch up on my recap here.
This week’s episode starts with Espada back camp after voting out Coach Jimmy Johnson. The first storm of the season hits, depressing everyone. Everyone but Jimmy T, that is. He confides to the camera that what Coach (Jimmy J) considered his great leadership skills was nothing more than a couple of basic speeches. It was clear that Coach wasn’t a Jimmy T fan, so Jimmy T isn’t going to miss him. Jimmy (no longer Jimmy T from here on out in these recaps) starts singing, very poorly, and annoying his tribe. Marty confesses that Jimmy is just putting on the “Jimmy T Show.” “Jimmy needs to hear his own voice 24/7…, but if you give him enough rope, he’ll hang himself.”
The next morning, Holly looks out on the destruction caused by the storm.

Last night on Survivor: Nicaragua, we said so long to James "Jimmy T." Tarantino, the commercial fisherman from Gloucester, Ma. Although his tribemates didn't care for him, America sure did. He won a contest beating out thousands of people as America's choice. Sadly for Jimmy T. he could never get over not being top dog around camp. He was always asking to lead but never leading by example.
I had the chance to talk to Jimmy T. this afternoon and get his take on what went down in Nicaragua. He also gives his opinion on Probst, Tyrone, his leadership skills, and how he felt he owed it to America to do well in the game.

You knew it was only a matter of time. Jimmy T wasn’t ever long for this game. I wonder if he understands why he was voted out? Does he realize the reason he was voted out is because it’s very difficult to be around him?
Jimmy T: “And I’m easy to get along with… I think.”
Hmm. Maybe not. Jimmy T, I know you mean well, I really do. You have a great spirit, but dude, you are tough to get along with.

"Survivor: Nicaragua" snuffed the torch of celebrity contestant Jimmy Johnson Wednesday night (Sept. 29). He talks to us about his strategy (or lack thereof) on the show.
"I was hoping that [being famous] would work to my favor because I tried to convince everybody that I wasn't going to win a million dollars and I wasn't a threat," says Johnson. "Evidently I miscalculated because Marty still felt like I was a threat and needed to get me out of there."
"Had I known that they felt like I was a threat, I would've at least tried to form an alliance," he continues. "I think I could've formed an alliance with the women, with Jane and Yve and Holly and possibly Tyrone and probably gotten Daniel out of there."
But despite being voted out third, Johnson is still incredibly glad he participated in the show.
"I'm probably a bigger fan of the show than I've ever been.

Jimmy Johnson definitely proved his mettle as a two-time Super Bowl-winning coach, but when it came to the game of "Survivor," his celebrity put a target on his back. Wednesday night, the "NFL Sunday" analyst was ousted from Nicaragua by several conniving members of the Espada tribe. He tells Et, he never saw it coming. Do you think your renown as a coach essentially put a target on your back right from the start? Jimmy Johnson: I was hoping it would work to my favor because I tried to convince everybody I wouldn't win the million dollars and that I wasn't a threat. I thought I had pretty well convinced everybody of that but, apparently, I miscalculated because Marty still felt like I was a threat and needed to get me out of there. Was it a stupid move on their part because you are one of the most...

Rip Jimmy Johnson. One of our favorite, albeit short-lived, Survivor contestants was given the boot by his insecure tribemates on last night's episode of Survivor: Nicaragua.
How does this affect the Espada tribe? Will Jimmy T step into the leadership role or will Marty's plan to be the de facto leader be implemented? And what the heck was up with NaOnka last night?
Our Round Table writers have convened to discuss these pressing questions and more. They're also looking forward to debating the answers with our readers as well.
Espada voted off Jimmy Johnson. Smart move?
Kakdaddy: Not if we're talking about my enjoyment of this season. I suppose I see the rationale where Jimmy is certainly not a physical threat and going up against the younger tribe they need all the strength they can get. I just didn't see him as the big bad threat that Marty and...

Jimmy Johnson will not be adding the title of ‘Sole Survivor’ to his formidable list of accomplishments anytime soon. The two-time Super Bowl winning coach was voted out of Survivor: Nicaragua last night, undone by other men jealous of his success and celebrity status. I talked with Jimmy today about the plot to get him out, his frustration with Jimmy T., and how he dealt with his ultimate foe in the game — Father Time. Read on after the jump for the full Q&A!
Why is Dan still in this game? The guy can barely walk!

Last night’s episode of Survivor, “Glitter In Their Eyes” was a reminder that as much as Survivor is a social game it is also still very much a physical game. Despite his celebrity coming into the season and earned respect during his time with the Espada tribe, Jimmy Johnson couldn’t escape that he was the oldest and possibly weakest member of his tribe.
Even though the women on his tribe loved him, he was unanimously voted out.
This speaks volumes to how the tribe’s perception of Jimmy J varied from what we saw of Jimmy J on the screen. Heading in to tribal council, it seemed very possible that Jimmy J, Jane, Holly, Yve and Tyrone would vote for Dan, out gunning Marty, Jill, Jimmy T and Dan’s votes for Jimmy J five to four. A vote of eight to one means that everyone felt that...

Did you miss last week’s episode of Survivor: Nicaragua? Catch up with a recap here.
This week’s episode begins with La Flor, chastened yet probably better off without a homophobic loud-mouth, returning to their camp. Alina mentions that Jeff said the tribe is divided so that they need to start working together. NaOnka confesses to the camera, though, that everyone was acting “faker than faux fur.” Everybody is acting like they are one big, happy family, but that couldn’t be farther form the truth. She says that Alina, Kelly B and Fabio were shocked that Shannon was voted out (although, it appears NaOnka can’t do math because there were only three votes against Brenda, so one of them, which ended up being Kelly B, voted against Shannon), so that they need to watch their backs, because they are going to get bit on the butt.

“Sorry bout smushing the bananas.”
Naonka, Survivor: Nicaragua 2010
Okay I need to preface this blog by saying that I’m very frustrated at the moment and therefore may very well write things that I later regret. Which really means that I’ve already considered if I’ll regret the comments and have decided I don’t care if I do regret them, which means I really don’t/won’t regret them at all. I know what I’m writing it and my intention is clear.
The two big reasons for my frustration:
1. Naonka
2. Marty

"Survivor: Nicaragua" loses its celebrity contestant in Jimmy Johnson, and only three weeks in. Bummer.
La Flor
NaOnka is not happy about the fake unity and she continues to hate Jud because he's kind of an idiot. He is, but she's a real witch about, well, everything. Stop complaining!
Alina and Kelly B. are in trouble because they were aligned with Shannon. So now it's Kelly Purple, NaOnka, Chase, Brenda and Sash who are allies and they need the guys for challenges, so Alina is the target if they lose immunity.
Espada
Jimmy Johnson tracks down some monkeys because they want the monkeys' food. He hoots and hollers at them, while various tribe members talking-head about whether or not they like Jimmy. Marty and Jimmy T. clearly are threatened/jealous about him because their idea that he's a threat is silly. He won't win the money, he's filthy rich and famous!

If you missed Survivor: Nicaragua‘s age-tastic premiere last week, check out a recap here.
This week’s installment opens in the Espada camp as the tribe returns from their first Tribal Council. Holly realizes that she’s on the outs with the rest of her tribe, so she knows that she needs to rethink her strategy and whole approach to the game. She needs to show her tribe that she can kick their collective ass. We get the opening title sequence, and realize that Jud no longer exists. Rather, his picture is shown with the name “Fabio.” Alright Survivor, I’ll begrudgingly accept this and call the surfer boy, Fabio. *sigh* Back from the commercials, we rejoin Espada in their daily group meeting. Since Marty had a poor night’ sleep (really, everyone had), Jimmy J says they need to fix up the shelter. As “Coach” was giving out jobs,...

For those who were worried about the hangover from the spectacular Survivor: All-Stars season last spring, the Survivor producers give you episode two of Survivor: Nicaragua, “Fatigue Makes Cowards of Us All."
Survivor may not provide us with the sheer volume of ridiculous moments that other reality shows such as The Jersey Shore do, but in terms of jaw-dropping, did-he-really-just-say-that (and that and that and that) moments go, this week’s tribal council will certainly be on people’s radar.
Before we dive into one of the most epic crash and burn moments in Survivor history, let’s skim over the two topics I thought I’d be leading this review off with before Shannon stole the show. First, Holly was sparred what should have been one of the best Survivor melt downs by the Medallion of Power. Heck, she even tried to eliminate that advantage by flailing through the haystack,...

It’s a new season of Survivor and that can mean only one thing -- a new name will be added to the illustrious list of first castaways to get the Probst snuff. On Nicaragua, that unlucky lady was Wendy DeSmidt-Kohlhoff, 48, a former army lieutenant colonel and goat rancher, who spoke with People about the distinction from her ranch in Fromberg, Mont. --Carrie Bell Your husband pegged you as the first to go. How bad did he feel for jinxing you? To clarify, he said I would be first if I talked a lot, so that’s why I tried...
