Bollywood film director-producer Prakash Jha on Tuesday registered a case with the Amboli police complaining that he received extortion calls and e-mails from two New Yourk-based Non-Resident Indians (Nri), demanding Rs. 3 crore on October 5.
Police records state that with the two accused Pramod Bhanti, 62, and Dr. Devendra Kumar Singh, 70, had started a film production company in New York in 2004. The trio had reportedly planned to make a film titled, Farewell Himalaya, a scripted and directed by Jha for which he was paid an advance of 50,000Us$. The project did not materialise and eventually, Jha was asked to return the advance amount.
