Julie (Rosendo) Kern is a PBS veteran in both development and production with more than 30 years of experience, serving as a vice president with PBS for 14 years prior to becoming an independent producer in 2005. Julie's credits include producer of the six-time Emmy Award winning PBS travel series, Joseph Rosendo's Travelscope. Now in its 12th Season, with 137 episodes, it reaches 98% of the US market and is sold internationally. Julie has produced and directed other award-winning PBS content including Rhythm Abroad, Digging Into the Future, Epic Adventures and Canvasing the World with Sean Diediker, now in its second season of production.
Julie is a member of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, the Silver Telly Council and the Society of American Travel Writers. She serves on the board of the Topanga Association for a Scenic Community and the executive board of Will Geer's Theatricum Botanicum.
Her professional recognition includes 19 Emmy Nominations, 50 Telly Awards, and multiple Gold and Silver 'Lowell Thomas Awards' from The Society of American Travel Writers Foundation for Travelscope; 2 Tellys for Canvasing the World, and 1 Telly for Epic Adventures. She is a 5-time winner of the PBS Development Award for Excellence, and the PBS Advertising & Promotion Award for On-Air Promotion.
