Sasha Fisher Films is founded by Sasha Fisher, a Canadian Screen Award winning documentary filmmaker from Toronto, Canada. Sasha is a proudly Queer, Jewish woman who graduated from the prestigious RTA School of Media from the Toronto Metropolitan University (formally Ryerson University). Sasha is presently a Master of Business Administration graduate degree candidate. She brings with her business affairs experience from when she worked at the Canadian Film Centre.
SASHA FISHER FILMS INC. mandates to create fiercely imaginative and strikingly cinematic films and documentaries which tell stories that encourage positive, impactful change for good. SSF recognizes the systemic challenges of the Film & TV industry and how it disproportionately burdens the BIPOC and LGBTQ2+ communities, and, is actively working to make this industry more inclusive, fostering better films. Sasha Fisher produced Take A Walk on the Wildside, which premiered at the Hot Docs International Film Festival and won the 2018 Canadian Screen Award for Best Short Documentary. The film gives a peek into Toronto's oldest cross-dressing store. Sasha produced the award-winning horror film PYOTR495 which highlights violent anti-LGBTQ abductions and attacks in Putin's Russia. Alex Ozerov won the Canadian Screen Award for Best Lead Performance as the title character in 2019.
