Now for my annual list of my favorite books from 2010. I managed to read 56 books this year, basically one a week. That is along with various magazines that I manage to squeeze in also; Diabetic Forecast; Home Theater Magazine, Cemetery Dance, Morpheus Tales etc. Also, along with spending time with the amazing new woman in my life, working on my sites, taking care of my dog, training in mixed martial arts, taking care of my Diabetes and writing my own stuff. I need another me. But all in all it was a great year for horror fiction in my opinion. So without further adieu here they are:
1.) By Wizard Oak – Peter Crowther
By far my favorite book this year. Mr. Crowther took witches to a whole new level. It was decadent, dark, nasty and scary as hell. Loved every second of it. If I had read this instead of seeing...

Saw V director David Hackl looks for horror redemption as he'll be getting behind the camera for Jack Reher's spec script Red Machine, a new survival horror that will do for camping what Jaws did for swimming. The story follows two estranged brothers who go on a camping trip and are continuously attacked by an erratic bear that has lost its fear of humans. Bloody Disgusting got an exclusive first look at the blood red sales art! Dig on it below. Hackl served as the production designer on the second, third and fourth Saw movies. He also worked as the second unit director on Saw III, Saw IV and Repo! The Genetic Opera. Hackl is also attached to direct an adaptation of Vince Churchill's novel The Butcher Bride, which is currently in development, and was also written by Reher.

If Stephen Colbert’s constant warnings on the subject of bears weren’t enough, and The Edge or Grizzly Man didn’t make us all aware that sometimes the furry beasts can be dangerous, then maybe Saw V director David Hackl can get the point hammered home with The Red Machine.Working from a script by Jack Reher, Hackl will shoot a movie that sees two estranged brothers on a camping trip find a reason to get over their differences when they come under assault from a bear that has apparently gotten over its fear of humans. Possibly because they keep leaving picnic baskets where it can reach them in Jellystone Park. There’s no studio attached to the film yet, but given that it’s been years since we had a bear-focused thriller (Winnie the Pooh doesn’t count), the time is clearly right for it.Hackl, meanwhile, is...
