[on his 'Rap Guide to Evolution' show] It's a new species of theatre - part TED talk, part stand-up comedy, part rap concert - that makes vivid the all-pervasiveness of Darwin's theory of evolution by natural selection: how it works, what it explains and how it can inform and enrich our daily lives. It's also the world's first peer-reviewed rap, fired in the fire of vigorous fact-checking.. Many rappers have swagger, but few are backed by an army of scientists ready to point out the original research behind the show's seemingly bizarre premises. It's the only place you'll see white people shouting 'Im an African' at the top of their lungs, and the only place you'll see homicide and teen pregnancy statistics turned into comic gold through the application of evolutionary psychology. In addition to exploring Darwinian evolution, I also speak to the evolution of hip-hop.
