Al McKinnon was born in Madison, Ohio on August 7th, 1969. He grew up in Middlefield, Ohio and graduated from Cardinal High School in 1987. His senior year of high school he made the horror spoof 'Thursday the 12th.' He attended Kent State University, in the Bachelor of Arts program for Performance. In 1996 he attended the New York Film Academy's program at Princeton University where he made his first short film, 'Beyond the Sea.' It was at the New York Film Academy he met future SNL alumnus Bill Hader. McKinnon starred in Hader's short film 'The Remote' as well as giving life to Hader's Cookie Man creation, an immediate favorite among the other film makers. In 2003 he married Marifrances Conrad and their daughter, Olivia was born in 2005.
