Take a look at this long lost footage from a reboot of the kid's horror series Are You Afraid of the Dark? that never actually made it into production. Thanks to a tip from the director behind this reboot, a tiny bit of footage has appeared online. Director Jared Pelletier explains "this was shot years ago when the IP was being rebooted." He was developing this for the studio before they greenlit a "lighter version". The original Are You Afraid of the Dark? was a children's horror anthology TV series from D.J. MacHale & Ned Kandel showing on Nickelodeon. It first aired on Nickelodeon from 1992 to 1996, with another different reboot that ran from 2019 to 2022. This teaser footage is for a darker version. Pelletier says, "this version took a darker 90s approach, when shows like Goosebumps were decidedly unafraid to scare kids." Alas this is all we'll see of it for now...

In the wake of films like Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey and The Mean One, it seems that no family-friendly kids property is truly safe from the icy cold grip of the horror genre. It’s always fun to imagine beloved non-horror franchises taking a sinister turn, and fan Jared Pelletier has just whipped up his own faux trailer that reimagines Casper in that vein.
“This is a reimagining of Casper the Friendly Ghost as an elevated horror film,” Pelletier tells Bloody Disgusting. “I put this together as part of a contest to showcase how this IP revival could be reimagined – but I’m really just doing this as a massive fan of horror, the Halloween season we’re entering, and as a creative outlet as we navigate the strikes in our business.”
The trailer runs just 60-seconds long but perfectly captures the intended A24 vibe, with a sinister line repetition and dark,...

"Our objective is to win the war." Yet another short film to feature, but this doesn't have any sci-fi or robots or CGI or anything like that. Call of Duty: Finest Hour, debuted in the Machinima Interactive Film Festival, is indeed inspired by the video game Call of Duty: Finest Hour (released in 2004) set during WWII. What makes this stand out is just how well-made it is, from the acting to the cinematography to the score to the overall direction and tone, this is an impressive short. For many very obvious reasons, it reminds me of Saving Private Ryan and how visceral and intense the action is in that. Check out the 4-minute film below. A special thanks to GeekTyrant for the tip on this short, debuted on Machinima. Director Jared Pelletier returns with an ode to the original WWII releases in the Call of Duty series. Call of Duty:...

Machinima has released a new poster and teaser image for a upcoming fan made Halo film called Halo: Faith. We recently posted some images and a behind the scenes video for another fan made Halo film from Machinima called Operation Chastity. So it looks like were going to see a couple fan-made Halo movies coming our way. It's like there's a Halo fan-film revolution going on.
Halo: Faith is being directed by Jared Pelletier and here's the plot summary:
Three Spartan II's are called to defend power generators for the Orbital Mac Cannon's during the initial Covenant attacks on Reach.
I really like the images that were released. Both the poster and the image above are really cool. I've also posted a few more images from the film below the poster. I can't wait to see how this all comes together. What do you all think of what you see here?...
