Born in a small village in southern China, a published poet at fifteen years old, Qing Xie is an award-winning writer and director based in Melbourne, Australia.
In 2010, she was selected by acclaimed auteur
Hsiao-Hsien Hou for the 2010 Taipei Golden Horse Film Festival Academy, where she was mentored by 2010 Palme d'Or winner
Apichatpong Weerasethakul.
With the assistance of the Adelaide Film Festival in 2011, she was introduced to
Rolf de Heer: an encounter which progressed into development support for her debut narrative feature
MolestiaQing Xie graduated from the prestigious Victorian College of the Arts, with her film
Red Water Red (2009) - described by
Bong Joon Ho as "a disturbing beauty" - captivating audiences across Europe, Asia & the US, and winning multiple awards.
