Ever since Loggins and Messina tugged on our heartstrings with the wistful ‘70s ballad “House on Pooh Corner”, the notion of saying goodbye to childhood playmates has tinged A.A. Milne’s delightful Winnie the Pooh stories. It was seemingly inevitable that the song would be turned into a story, which more or less explains this summer’s Christopher Robin. The film, out now from Walt Disney Home Entertainment is incredibly predictable but still charming in its own way.
We have an adult Christopher (Ewan McGregor) who has married Evelyn (Hayley Atwell) and they have a daughter Madeline (Bronte Carmichael). However, the joy of childhood is gone in his life, replaced with drudgery, as he has become the London equivalent of the salaryman, working for a gray luggage company with inept management.
While the audience is shown that the inhabitants of the Hundred Acre Wood gang – Winnie the Pooh (Jim Cummings), Owl (Toby Jones), Tigger,...

Marc Foster‘s “Christopher Robin” is not about the creation of A.A. Milne‘s classic Pooh Bear and company (that task went to last year’s Domnhall Gleeson vehicle “Goodbye Christopher Robin”). Rather, it follows in the same whimsical footsteps as two films about another literary figure: Peter Pan. Forster’s “Finding Neverland” told the story of Pan’s creator J.M. Barrie while “Hook” imagined another chapter in the classic children’s story.
“Finding Neverland” scored seven Oscar nominations in 2004, including Best Picture and Best Actor for Johnny Depp (who played Barrie). It won Best Original Score. “Finding Neverland” worked so well because it had the emotional punch right the way through the film (with a gut-wrenching finale) and managed to juggle several different strands of stories and sub-stories and character beats.

We were charmed and delighted to interview the cast and crew on the red carpet of the UK Premiere of Disney’s Christopher Robin about the boy who inspired A.A. Milne’s Winnie the Pooh stories, held in London on the 5th of August 2018.
The film stars Ewan McGregor, Hayley Atwell, Mark Gatiss, Sophie Okonedo and Bronte Carmichael. It is written by Marc Foster, who talks to us about the timelessnessof the stories, as well as being pleased not to be doing World War Z 2. McGregor ponders once more the much-mooted Obi-Wan Kenobi standalone Star Wars film, and given the events of Avengers Infinity War Hayley Atwell muses on the possibility of Agent Peggy Carter turning up in Avengers 4.

Chicago – Yeesh. Who woulda thunk that the fine people at Walt Disney Studios would throw the “legend” of Winnie-the-Pooh into a live action “sequel,” with absolutely no life… including the computer generated dead-eyed stuffed machinations of the famous animals. Yet, here we are with “Christopher Robin,” featuring Ewan McGregor in the title role.
Rating: 2.5/5.0
Set after the childhood of the title character, this unnecessary film (at least the way it ended up), explores an adult Christopher being revisited by his stuffed pals as he has forgotten the zen life lessons of being and nothingness that his adventures as a boy with Winnie-the-Pooh gave him. Interestingly – and again unnecessarily – the voice actors imitate the original cartoon voices, to scattered success. One exception was Brad Garrett (“Everybody Loves Raymond” deep-toned brother) who brought blessed humor to Eeyore the Donkey, and I suspect many of his scene stealing lines came out of improvisation...

A.A. Milne’s silly old bear is back and looking ever so slightly — and altogether endearingly — scruffy in this new trailer for Disney’s live-action Christopher Robin. It’s the best glimpse we’ve had yet of director Marc Foster’s visually realistic, stitched-at-the-seams take on the Pooh bear, depressed donkey Eeyore, Piglet, Kanga, Roo and the rest of Milne’s menagerie.
The trailer, posted exclusively today on Ellen DeGeneres’ Ellentube, focuses more on the animals than previous teasers that set up the tale’s starting-point dilemma: An adult Christopher Robin (Ewan McGregor) is an overworked London businessman who’s apparently not been spending nearly enough time with wife Evelyn (Hayley Atwell) and daughter Madeline (Bronte Carmichael). When he’s ordered to work yet another weekend, Christopher’s stuffed childhood pals arrive to set things right.
Judging from this trailer, Forster’s approach combines a bit of the familiar with the new. The clean, ’60s-modern look of Disney’s animated versions is replaced here with critters that really do look as if they’ve been pulled from an old toy chest in the attic. It’s an appealing blend.
Hitting theaters August 3, Forster’s Christopher Robin has a screenplay by Alex Ross Perry and Allison Schroeder and a story by Perry based on characters created by Milne and E.H. Shepard. The producers are Brigham Taylor and Kristin Burr with Renée Wolfe and Jeremy Johns serving as executive producers. In addition to McGregor, Atwell, Carmichael and Cummings (who also voices Tigger), the movies features Mark Gatiss as Christopher’s boss, and the voices of Brad Garrett (Eeyore), Toby Jones (Owl), Nick Mohammed (Piglet), Peter Capaldi (Rabbit), and Sophie Okonedo (Kanga).

Winnie The Pooh and Christopher Robin too! As Disney continues to bring to life their beloved animated tales, before we get to The Lion King, we get a reimagining of the honey loving Pooh Bear.
Director of Quantum Of Solace and Finding Neverland, Marc Foster looks to bring us the next big Disney Live Action film. Following the success of Cinderella, The Jungle Book, and Beauty and The Beast Disney’s next venture looks to see the loving bumbling teddy bear Winnie The Pooh to life.
In what looks to be a reimagining of the tale, Ewan McGregor plays a grown up Christopher Robin who has to deal with grown up problems of being the boss! While he struggles to figure out what to do, he is visited by an old friend. Disney gave us our first look at the film with a brand new poster:

With Sam Mendes set to direct the twenty-third James Bond movie, Ti puts together his wishlist for the new 007 adventure.
So, MGM are out of their financial straits and Sam Mendes is, if his ex-wife is to be believed, still on board to direct the next James Bond film, due in 2012. So, with mixed reviews for Bond's last adventure, Quantum Of Solace, what do we want to see in the new film?
And, no, a new actor as James Bond is not one of them, you CraigNotBond.com wags... (Besides, that's clearly going to be Henry Cavill when Craig is done in the role. You just wait and see...)
1. Keep the stunts grounded
James Bond films have always been famous for their practical stunts and the films are all the more exciting when we know that the action was done for real. Think of Bond's best stunts, the rotating Mustang...
