- Soundtrack
Georgia-born Buster Brown began his musical career in his early 20s by
playing harmonica at local dance clubs, and he made a few recordings in
the 1940s. He moved to New York in the 1950s, and was eventually signed
by Fire Records. He recorded the song he is best known for, "Fannie
Mae", in 1959, when he was almost 50. The song went to #38 in the US
Top-40 charts and shot to #1 on the R&B charts. He had a few minor hits
after that, including a remake of
Louis Jordan's "Is You Is or Is You
Ain't My Baby?" in 1960. He died in New York City in 1976 at age 64.
