- She was raised in California. She graduated from Georgetwon Law School in Washington D.C. with a Juris Doctorat degree. She worked at the Library of Congress in Washington D.C. before moving to New York City.
- She made her first ever Drag Show on the Mall at the 1992 March on Washington for Gay and Lesbian Rights. She was also known for her "Mz Liberty" persona at the New York City Gay Pride events.
- She was active for the International Conferences on Transgender Law and Employment Policy where she helped put Transgender with GLBT. She was on the Board of World Against Racism Foundation where she provided legal support for the Sylvia Rivera Law Project.
- She died of atrial fibrillation at Roosevelt Hospital at 4:11 am on April 28, 2011 in New York City.
- Her remains were interred at Maplewood Cemetery in Lincoln, Vermont.
