Jay Leno was seen for the first time on Monday as he said goodbye to the care team at the Grossman Burn Center where he was recovering from third-degree burns to his face, chest and hands. The comedian and former late-night talk show host was seriously injured during a fire that occurred while he was working on one of his cars in his garage.
After a 10-day stay at the facility, Leno will receive follow-up care at the Grossman Outpatient Burn Clinic. “I am pleased with Jay’s progress, and I am optimistic that he will make a full recovery,” Dr. Peter Grossman shared in a statement to the press.

Jay Leno says may need skin grafts after suffering third-degree burns during a scary accident at his garage.
The iconic host of The Tonight Show told TMZ from his hospital bed that he was working on his 1907 White Steam Car over the weekend to fix a clogged fuel line. However, a fuel leak caused gasoline to spray on his face and hands — and almost at the same time, a spark triggered an explosion.
According to TMZ, the explosion lit Leno on fire, but thankfully, his friend Dave was nearby and quickly put out the flames. The incident left Leno with severe third-degree burns on the left side of his face. Leno is expected to be hospitalized for up to 10 days.
On Monday, the former late-night host confirmed to Et that he was hospitalized over the weekend after a gasoline fire at his Los Angeles car garage.
