Joe Lizura was born and raised in New Jersey and attended Rutgers
University where he received a Bachelor of Science in Atmospheric and
Oceanic Sciences, a Bachelor of Arts in Communication and a Minor in
Advertising. Joe's first break in television came by way of a weekend
weathercasting job at WANE-TV in Fort Wayne, Indiana. After 6 months in
Fort Wayne, Joe Lizura was offered a job as a Monday thru Friday
weathercaster for WLOX-TV in Biloxi, Mississippi. Two years into a 3
year contract on tv in Biloxi, Joe was offered a job doing the weather
in Sacramento, California at KCRA-TV, where he was the Morning
weathercaster for nearly two years.
Joe's next job was the primary weathercaster in Cincinnati, Ohio at WLWT-TV working alongside none other than Jerry Springer, who at the time was a news anchor for the 5,6, and 11 pm newscasts. Joe's stint in Cincinnati only lasted one year when it was a trip back to California that made Joe Lizura one of San Diego's longest running television personalities being on the air for more than 20 years, first with NBC 7/39 and then with KUSI-TV.
During 2006, Joe Lizura entered the area of Executive Production, creating and writing a children's DVD series called "The Jumpitz". Two years later, Joe created and Executive Produced a television series called "Dos y Dos". Joe co-wrote 26 episodes which now air on Telemundo in Puerto Rico, Sorpressa! in the United States, the LATV Network in the United States, the ATB Network in Bolivia, Panamericana in Peru, and is scheduled for air this fall on Ecuavisa in Ecuador.
In 2011 Joe Lizura became President and CEO of The Allowance Media Group, which is developing two new pilots for production. Joe still enjoys living in San Diego, with frequent trips to Los Angeles.
