- Opened for an Oldies Rock n Roll Concert in full "Uncle Al" outfit, of course with accordion in tow. Before performing some of his old familiar songs and even commercial jingles that he wrote for his show, he put his hand over his brow looking over the large crowd of 30, 40 and 50 year olds, and exclaimed. "You all grew up!" The crowd roared with approval.
- Hosted his own children's program, The Uncle Al Show, on WCPO-TV in Cincinnati, Ohio from 1950-1985.
- He served in the Army for three years.
- He graduated from the Cleveland Institute of Art. Subsequently, he was hired at WCPO-TV in Cincinnati as an art director in 1949.
