Chris Thomes is an Emmy award-winning executive producer in digital
entertainment. Chris executive produced The Muppets Kitchen with Cat
Cora web series, a comedy cooking show exclusive to Disney.com. He also
executive produced Jim Henson's The Possibility Shop, a Disney.com,
web-based original production focused on instilling creativity in kids
and parents, and Disney's U Rock the Summer, a user-generated content
experience where kids sing along to music from the likes of Hannah
Montana. Chris helped conceive and develop Disney Xtreme Digital, a
Flash-based framework and broadband content distribution system for the
Walt Disney Company. He successfully re-launched the Muppets online
experience, partnering with Muppet Studios and executive producing new
short-form video and interactive content. He designed and produced the
award winning Playhouse Disney Preschooltime Online, a 3D and 2D
animated, educational virtual world. Most recently, Chris served as
digital show runner for Oscar.com, overseeing the digital experience
for the Academy Awards, for which that team won an Emmy. From March to
October 2011, Chris oversaw digital production and programming at Saban
Brands.
Chris returned to Disney in October, 2011, overseeing the Digital Media Studio for the Disney/ABC Television Group General management, creative development, and physical production of digital programming, including derivative webisodes, original series, and special event live programming for the Disney-ABC Television Group's diverse portfolio of broadcast and cable networks, including ABC, ABC Family, and Disney Channel.
Chris has earned four Disney Inventor Awards, Best in Show Webby Award for The Possibility Shop, the prestigious Reggie Award for his work in branded entertainment, and the Producers Guild 2010 Marc Levey Award for outstanding contributions in New Media. Chris was also voted #27 in the 2007 Hollywood Reporter Digital Top 50 People in Hollywood list. His focus remains squarely on the creation and distribution of digital entertainment and the development of new business models which can monetize that content. Chris is an active member of the Television Academy of Arts & Sciences and Vice President New Media for the Producers Guild of America New Media Council. He also sits on the PGA's National Board of Directors.
