Amilcar Monterroso began his career in the entertainment industry
writing music for electronic dance music producers, AJ Mora and Richard
Vision. Amilcar went on to write music for HBO, Coke-a-Cola, Univision
Music and Grammy award winner Coolio.
In 2008 he made the leap from music production to film production and
while attending California State University, Los Angeles, he earned
awards for Best Short Film, (Life is too Short), Best Song (Survive All
the Pain), Best Short Script, (American Terrorist) and best PSA, (Remix
Our World).
After earning a degree in film production, Amilcar became an assistant
editor at LATV in Los Angeles and gained experience developing youth
programing. In 2009 after volunteering for N.A.L.I.P and LALIFF Amilcar
realized that Hollywood and Latino producers were not creating films
for the exploding Latino youth market.
Seeing this as an opportunity, he decided to produce one himself.
Amilcar then teamed up with Spencer Longmore and formed Voltius Digital
to produce social advocacy documentaries and feature films.
