Blogger Crystal Cox has been ordered to pay $2.5 million in a defamation lawsuit filed by Obsidian Finance Group, reports the AP. Cox runs several investigative blogs, which primarily focus on finance, real estate and the like. Her blog Obsidian Finance Sucks accused the company and executive Kevin Padrick of tax and governmental fraud.
After the company sent her a cease-and-desist letter, Cox issued a statement:
"Yes I am a Self-Proclaimed Investigative Blogger and under Supreme Court Decisions, under the law as making a living as an Investigative Blogger, Gathering News, Taking Interviews, and Reporting on these Stories I am Media [sic]. I am an Independent News Media. I am a Public Forum, my blogs do go out in news feeds and I am Legally Media [sic]"
But the judge disagreed. Judge Marco Hernandez wrote that due to Cox's lack of education in journalism, any credentials or proof of affiliation with any recognized news entity,...

When the news first broke that former NFL coach, current ExtenZe spokesman, and all around good guy Jimmy Johnson was going to be a castaway on Survivor: Nicaragua, feelings were mixed. People weren't sure if casting a highly recognizable celebrity was merely a gimmick, or if Jimmy Johnson had a shot at being a real contender?
This isn't the first time Survivor has used celebrities as castaways before. Former NFL player Gary Hogeboom (Guatemala), Olympic gold medalist Crystal Cox (Gabon), and a member of the R&B group Swv Tamara "Taj" Johnson-George (Tocantins) have all played the game. There have also been a handful of z level stars (Jonathan Penner, Rita Verreos), but never has the show cast someone as well knows as Jimmy Johnson.

Survivor Gabon cast member and Olympic relay team member Crystal Cox will probably lose her gold medal for her part in the 4x400 meter relay during the 2004 Athens summer Olympics after admitting to using anabolic steroids. She's being suspended for four years and will have results from 2001 to 2004 stripped. The AP reports that she "admitted to using anabolic steroids and agreed to the penalty Friday, the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency said," and "almost...

Normally, we update our readers on PlayStation release content every Thursday alongside the routine PlayStation Network updates. However, due to the upcoming holidays, the Psn has been updated early with a number of notable offerings, so we’ve added an addendum to this week’s update.
This particular update focuses only on PlayStation Network releases. If you happened to miss part one – make sure to check it our retail release info as well as our reaction to the Gran Turismo 5: Time Trial Challenge Demo, among other offerings on the Psn.
As for this week, the LittleBigPlanet “Pirates of the Caribbean” level kit and costumes have officially been released – along with the long awaited “Water” gameplay mechanic. The level kit, as we previously reported, includes both the water add-on for level creation as well as several “Pirates of the Caribbean” themed levels (similar to the Metal Gear Solid pack), and...

Crazy? Or bored? Last night brought us yet another delicious blindside. Sadly, it was Crystal, who I thoroughly enjoyed watching all season. This woman won a gold medal in the Olympics just four years ago and is 6’3”. I assumed she would dominate both men and women in athletic competitions, but she was actually one of the worst challenge performers in the entire season and possibly the series. Last night she couldn’t even make a basket when she dunked it! She got lost on the obstacle course! It was incredible. And despite this, she had the game all sewn up—until she went off on Matty. Sugar saw that as kicking him when he was almost definitely the next to be voted out and decided that she was sick of playing the game with “the bad guys” (Ken and Crystal) and was going to do whatever she could to save...

I’m pretty sure they’d believe me that this was a real hidden immunity idol at this point. Another day, another fake idol. After winning the reward challenge and spending time with his wife and some nasty-looking pizza, Bob went back to the game recharged and ready to see if the nitwits he’s been playing with will fall for another fake idol for a second time in a row. First, of course, he had to get on his high horse about how Sugar laughed at Randy when he played the fake idol, as if he had nothing to do with that. Oh, except that he made the idol in the first place, showed it to Sugar, and then went along with her plan to give it to Randy for the sole purpose of embarrassing him. Come on, Bob. But my annoyance with his hypocrisy soon gave way to...

The man with the plan. How much you enjoyed last night’s episode of Survivor probably depends on how much you liked Randy. Fortunately for me, I hated him, so last night was a joy to behold. Sugar hates Randy. She hates him so much that she’d rather lose out on tasty reward challenge auction prizes than let him win any, even though she’s starving. So she tried to outbid him on everything, and when she didn’t have enough money, urged the others to do the same. In the end, though, Randy won beers and pasta along with a plate of cookies he was forced to share with everyone. Once again, Sugar would rather be without cookies than take one from him, so she refused his offer and this turned into the biggest deal ever. Randy wouldn’t let her give her cookie to Matty because he...

Would you hire this guy to film your wedding? How much have I enjoyed watching the arrogant and entitled Kota Six alliance come crashing down? So much. So very much. They treated Susie badly going into the tribe switch last week, and lo and behold, she ran right back to her old tribe and sided with them to vote Marcus out, much to his surprise. Last night, the tribes finally merged into one at an individual immunity challenge that Susie won in a blowout. A really funny blowout. Back at their shared camp, it quickly became apparent that the Kota Six Five Four wanted Crystal gone, while the Fang Four wanted to take Randy out. That left Sugar as the swing vote. She didn’t trust the Fangs since she found out that Ken and Crystal lied to her to get her to vote Ace out, but she didn’t...

Survivor is no stranger to the gays. The mother of all reality competition shows has even had two openly gay million-dollar winners: Richard Hatch in Season One and Todd Herzog in China. Just when we thought we'd seen it all, however, Survivor surprised us with a sweet hobromance -- a word we coined here at AfterElton.com to describe a close non-sexual friendship between a gay man and a straight man. Think Bronnie from Make Me A Supermodel.
Straight doctor Marcus Lehman and gay lawyer Charlie Herschel had an alliance from day one, but that wasn't all Charlie had. He also had a huge, obvious crush on his straight pal. The kicker was that Marcus was so completely comfortable with Charlie's affections.
Now, we don't want to fawn over the straight boy for being nice to the gay boy, but let's face...

Hero! Sorry for the delay in getting this up, but I was so happy to see Ace go home that I partied for two days straight. The show went its usual route: Fang sucked, lost the reward challenge, Sugar got sent to Exile, Kota celebrated their win, and Randy was obnoxious. They figured they had the immunity challenge all sewn up, too, until Probst revealed the twist: both tribes were voting someone out tonight, and this challenge was for individual immunity. And it was a log-roll-off. Despite the fact Bob won a log rolling championship in college three hundred years ago, he lost out in the semi-final round to Sugar, who advanced to the final round with Ace and Marcus. Of course, Marcus won, because he’s perfect at everything. He then got the chance to award immunity to someone on the Fang tribe. After singling Sugar out to go to Exile week after week,...

Suckage Well, the Fang tribe lost both challenges again this week and Probst was totally disgusted with them. It was like watching a rerun of last week, or the week before. And it’s getting harder and harder to care. Voting Kelly out was probably a good move, although I didn’t think she was as useless in challenges as Probst did, with his constant calling her out during challenges for perceived poor performances. Ace pretty much lost the immunity challenge for Fang, who provided the only exciting moment of the episode by nearly winning it before Ace took over the flag pole assembly and assembled zero flagpole while Kota worked together and won the challenge. Couldn’t they have voted him out for that? And in other show mysteries, what was Sugar thinking, giving the idol to Ace? What is wrong with her? Idiot. And how did Crystal win...
