Touted as the UK’s answer to The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Gnaw (just out on U.S. DVD from Dark Sky) shares many elements with its illustrious predecessor. Both feature a group of attractive teens intent on a relaxing vacation in the country. Both contain the horror-staple image of a girl running down a road with her attacker in hot pursuit. Both films’ villains are cannibalistic in nature. But while Gnaw works to follow these established rules, it also deviates frequently from the well-traveled path of its subgenre.

Gnaw is Gregory Mandry’s directorial debut and features Sara Dylan, Gary Faulkner, Rachel Mitchem, Hiram Bleetman, Nigel Croft-Adams, Oliver Squires, Julian Vandoorne, Jennifer Wren and Carrie Cohen. Gnaw , the British horror film last spoken about here when it surfaced at the American Film Market, has found a home with distributor Mpi Media Group. According to Variety, the outfit now owns the U.S. release rights. In the film, six friends go on holiday in the English countryside and run into a family of cannibals. Sara Dylan, Rachel Mitchem, Hiram Bleetman (The Zombie Diaries), Julia Vandoorne and Nigel Croft-Adams star. Mpi's Greg Newman says, "This is British horror at its most base, vile and rude; fans will love it." The film's official site is currently hosting a trailer , so go get acquainted with this title and stay tuned for a release date.
