- After junior college in Long Beach, California, Bendich received his B.A. and M.A.Degrees in Economics from U.C. Berkeley, and his J.D. Degree (1955) from U.C. Berkeley's Boalt Hall Law School. In the 1960s, Bendich taught rhetoric courses at the UC Berkeley.
- In 1957, Attorney Bendich was part of the ACLU legal defense that won acquittal for Poet Allen Ginsberg, who was prosecuted for obscenity for his 'Howl' poem.
- His descendants: Jonathan, his son; Bridget Bendich and Adrianne Keffeler, his two daughters; and six grandchildren + two great-grandchildren.
- In 1961, Attorney Bendich won acquittal for Comic Lenny Bruce who was prosecuted for obscenity for his vulgar and sexually graphic stand-up routine at a San Francisco venue.
- In the 1960's, Bendich worked as legal counsel for the Zaentz Fantasy Records Corporation which produced music recordings, and later movies. Bendich helped obtain the film rights to 'One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest.'.
