It's time to cross another one off the list. After releasing their book, "What Do You Want To Do Before You Die?," the four guys of "The Buried Life" officially have just made it onto the New York Times Best Seller List.
They released the book last week, hoping to inspire young people.
"When we started 'Buried Life,' we wish we had something like [this] book," Jonnie Penn recently told MTV News. "We were all in college when this thing started and we wish there was somewhere to go to talk about doing crazy things that you want to do in your life. Now this [book], if you go to your friend's house and this is sitting on the coffee table, you know you're like-minded."

They've gone bull-riding, streaked across soccer stadiums and played ball with President Obama. Now the guys from MTV's "The Buried Life" say it's time to cross off the next item on their list: Write a New York Times best-seller. With their first book, "What Do You Want to Do Before You Die?" hitting book shelves on Tuesday (March 27), they're hoping to make good on that goal.
Since wrapping the second season of their docu series, the guys — Ben Nemtin, Jonnie Penn, Duncan Penn and Dave Lingwood — have traveled the country speaking on college campuses squeezing in time to assemble their book.

When they're not checking off items on their bucket list, the four guys that make up "The Buried Life" have been busy touring the country to speak at colleges and universities. The MTV stars currently have a new show in development and a book due out later this month called "What Do You Want to Do Before You Die?" which they hope makes it onto the New York Times Best Sellers list — it's #19 on their bucket list.
They recently stopped by MTV News while in New York to speak at St. John's College, where they weighed in on themes of the presidential election as they relate to young people. "A lot of people...

Last week, we reported that MTV had cancelled The Buried Life after two short seasons. Buried Life is the cable channel's show in which four young men (Ben Nemtin, Dave Lingwood, Duncan Penn, and Jonnie Penn) travel the country to accomplish things on their "bucket list" and to help others do the same.
Though the show was over, MTV and the guys were supposedly going to continue working together and possibly find a way to keep the show going in another form. While there are still no plans for a third season of Buried Life, the guys will be busy.
Here's the press release:

MTV has cancelled reality series The Buried Life after two seasons. EW confirmed that the series will not be returning for a third run, although cast members Duncan Penn, Jonnie Penn, Ben Nemtin and Dave Lingwood have been signed to post-development deals. Nemtin said: "We were proud of the show we had made, but it wasn't exactly the show we had dreamed of. So we wanted to work with MTV to develop the next level of The Buried Life." The series will continue in the form of new shows and online projects on MTV's cross-platform media group (more)...

It's the end of the road for the young men of The Buried Life. MTV has cancelled the show after two seasons on the air, reports EW.
The TV series follows "four regular guys on a mission to complete a list of '100 Things To Do Before You Die' and to help and encourage others to go after their own lists." Episode highlights include the boys making a toast at a wedding, learning to krump, playing basketball with President Obama, tell a joke on late night television, help deliver a baby, and sneak into the Playboy Mansion.
Sources say that the quartet (Jonnie Penn, Duncan Penn, Ben Nemtin, and Dave Lingwood) and MTV may still work together to find a way to keep the show going on the web or on new projects.

Want to know more about The Buried Life cast? We caught up with Jonnie Penn, the group's youngest member, to give you answers! Jonnie is the so-called idea guy of the bucket list foursome, but he also operates as main cameraman and editor for the show. His dreams are appropriately huge for a 23-year-old, as the item he most anticipates checking off the group's list is #100: Go to Space. During our chat with the budding TV star, he shared ten facts most people don't know, so we offer them to you now in Jonnie's own words. Fact #1: I have five brothers and...

Robert Pattinson makes a reluctant guest appearance on the Oct. 25 episode of MTV's "The Buried Life," in one show's more bizarre challenges yet.
If you're not familiar with the series' premise, creators and stars Dave Lingwood, Ben Nemtin, Duncan Penn and Jonnie Penn attempt to go through their bucket list of things they -- and viewers -- would like to accomplish before they die. Next up? Stealing a lock of Robert Pattinson's hair.
Now, this clip -- of the team stalking Pattinson in a Hollywood club and trailing his car -- doesn't bode very well for their success, but there are a few photos out there of the cast posing with Pattinson, so maybe they're successful after all.
Confession: We've never watched this series before. But the promise of Pattinson, and this admittedly charming cast has us intrigued. What do you think of "The Buried Life?"

Fresh-faced, optimistic, and totally earnest, the four twentysomethings who created and star on MTV's 'The Buried Life' have a lot of things going for them: Hunky, all-American good looks (although they're actually Canadian). More than half a million "friends" on Facebook. And a successful show on MTV which relies entirely on their personalities, on-camera chemistry, and real-deal authenticity.
Now in its second season, the show's premise is deceptively simple: The stars -- Dave Lingwood, Ben Nemtin, Duncan Penn, and his brother, Jonnie Penn -- ask each other (and thus, their viewers) 'what do you want to do before you die'?

What happens when you've already gotten President Obama on your show in its first season? Well, you try to aim higher.
That's what the guys of "The Buried Life" did when they sought out the king and queen of the celebrity world, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Swift, for their second season, which kicks off Monday.
"We try and streak a major stadium and get away with it," Jonnie Penn explained to MTV News. "And the second episode is Duncan [Penn, Jonnie's brother] trying to ask out Taylor Swift."
So, what does Ms. Swift say? Well, the guys aren't dishing.
"You'll have to watch the episode to find out," Duncan said. "I can't tell you, but she does answer."
As if courting Swift wasn't enough of a challenge,...

Though the cast of MTV's "The Buried Life" may be having a hard time deciding if Lady Gaga or Eminem should win Video of the Year at the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards, what really has them excited is the chance to finally be able to go to the VMAs in an invited capacity. Back in 2007, the guys crashed the VMAs and have finally found the time (and the invite) to make it to the big show when it goes live on Sunday, September 12 at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles.
"It was three years ago at the VMAs that we tried to cross off 'Walk the red carpet,'" Duncan Penn told MTV News at the Vma Radio Forum on Friday (September 10). "We broke into the VMAs, from that built a pilot and sold that to MTV. We were wearing suits we got at a thrift store and they were...

MTV certainly "digs" The Buried Life. The four stars of the reality series announced on The Oprah Winfrey Show that MTV is renewing the series for a second season that will air later this year.
Noah Oppenheim, Head of Development at Reveille Productions, stated, "We're thrilled they'll be bringing their adventures and their message back to MTV for another season."
The Buried Life premiered on the cable channel this past January 18th. It stars four friends -- Ben Nemtin, Dave Lingwood, and brothers Duncan and Jonnie Penn -- as they travel across North America completing their "bucket list," or the 100 things they want to do before they die. Every time they cross something off their own lists, they also help a stranger accomplish one of their goals. They challenge each individual they meet to create their own list of things to be...

The "Glee" kids aren't the only TV stars who have hung out with Oprah Winfrey and President Barack Obama in the last month. Zap2it caught up with the cast of "The Buried Life" at the College TV Awards on April 10 in Hollywood. They were fresh off the plane from Chicago, where they taped "The Oprah Winfrey Show," and still riding the high of playing basketball with Obama.
During Season 1 of their show, Ben Nemtin, Dave Lingwood, Jonnie Penn and Duncan Penn tried and failed to challenge Obama on the basketball court, but a few weeks ago, their luck turned around.
"Two weeks ago we actually got to cross that one off. We got to play ball with Obama on the White House courts," Duncan tells Zap2it. "He's got a great, great jumpshot, too."
"We didn't even think it was going to happen, but it did," Nemtin says.

Oprah Winfrey has two big entries on her so-called "bucket list," that collection of goals to accomplish before her time on earth is done: visit the pyramids in Egypt and become a schoolteacher.
Why did Oprah find herself making such a confession on Friday's (April 9) talk show? Because the guys from "The Buried Life," MTV's reality show about four friends who hit the road to complete a list of "100 things to do before you die," had stopped by for a chat.
"It sounds very dark," said co-star Jonnie Penn of their quest. "It's really not a dark project at all. It's the opposite."

There are not a lot of TV shows about well meaning people who do well intentioned things. I guess the theory is no one would watch them. Even Father Dowling Mysteries needed the mystery angle each week. This idea holds especially true in reality television. For instance, VH1 seems based solely on the theory that people only enjoy watching terrible people who are motivated out of terrible concerns- like a love of money (or Ray-j). That brings us to The Buried Life, a 2006 documentary series originally on the web that got rebooted and made its network debut on MTV on Monday, January 18 at 10Pm Et. The Buried Life challenges completely the nihilism promoted in VH1 styled reality. The concept is one part bucket list and the other My Name Is Earl. Four young men travel the country in a bus with a list of “100 things to do before they die.
