Calvin Tan(I)
- Producer
- Production Manager
One of the most dedicated producers working in Asia today, Calvin's
reputation as a marketing producer has made him one of the most sought
after in the film industry across the region. He was personally
responsible for the Asian launches of the movie blockbusters Star Wars
Episode 1, 007 The World Is Not Enough, and Moulin Rouge with Baz
Luhrmann.
Tasked with opening a new advertising arm in Asia, Calvin joined advertising giant BBDO Worldwide as General Manager of Proximity Singapore. Whilst there, he built it in two years from an initial 2-man team to an award winning agency with over 30 staff and a client list that read like the Who's Who of Singapore's corporate world. Proximity's high profile clients included Procter & Gamble (P&G), Daimler Chrysler Mercedes Benz, Visa International, Shell, Pepsico International, Fonterra Brands, Asia Pacific Breweries (Tiger beer, Heineken, ABC stout, Corona, Erdinger and Kilkenny beers), and local telco giants Starhub and Singtel. he has helmed commercials for Visa featuring Catherine Zeta Jones and Richard Gere, Tiger beer featuring Jessica Alba, and the integrated advertising campaigns for Gillette featuring sports champions Tiger Woods, Thierry Henry and Roger Federer, Mitsubishi cars, Harrahs Entertainment's Caesar's Palace Casino and many other familiar brands.
Now with over 25 years of experience Calvin continues working on innovative and creative platforms, and is excited with the prospect of bringing his wealth of experience and relationships to Shangri-La Pictures. He co-produced the feature film "Dance Of The Dragon" and was personally responsible for its successful marketing campaign. "Dance Of The Dragon" took a total 10 awards at the 2008 West Hollywood International Film Festival, including Best Film. It went on to take the Best Film award again in 2009 at the Hollywood International Feel Good Film Festival.
Calvin is (2011) currently producing a slate of commercial films with Shangri-La Pictures, set in Asia and aimed at not only Asian but an international audience. All his projects are backed with strategic marketing, sponsorship and product placement campaigns, and a plan for an international advertising campaign upon the release of the films worldwide.
