Updated, 1/3/11: Now that we don’t have Outlaw, My Generation, or The Whole Truth to pick on anymore, there is a whole new batch of shows that are about to battle for your attention on the broadcast networks. Will ABC’s new comedy starring Matthew Perry attract more viewers than Courteney Cox was luring with Cougar Town? Will David E. Kelley bring his A-game to Harry’s Law on NBC? Will the new judges — and new timeslot — boost ratings for American Idol?
Here are the start dates for new and returning shows on the broadcast networks.

CBS is one of the last networks to announce its midseason schedule and it turns out it contains a few shake-ups. The ending of Medium and some schedule changes will make way for a few new midseason shows.
The first big change is the time-slot switch between Blue Bloods and The Defenders. Blue Bloods had been averaging a respectable 12 million viewers on Friday nights, but CBS has decided to move it into the 10:00 p.m. spot on Wednesday, previously held by The Defenders. Curiously, though, Blue Bloods will only remain on Wednesday nights for 4 consecutive weeks. The Defenders, in turn, will be moving to 8:00 p.m. on Friday nights and is expected to remain on Friday nights for the remainder of the season.

Sarah Silverman is easily considered one of the most popular female comics working today. Unfortunately with that title often comes the inability to score roles as the sexy female lead. You never see Whoopi Goldberg as the sexy girl next door or Paula Poundstone as the attractive school teacher.
Thankfully, that’s exactly what we get with Steve Buscemi’s newest dark comedy, Saint John of Las Vegas. Silverman takes on the role of the attractive, manipulative cubical neighbor to Buscemi, who is later trumped by Emmanuel Chiriqui in the film.
The film stars Buscemi as ex-gambler John, who gets lured back into the sleazy underbelly of the City of Sin by a veteran insurance fraud investigator. The film also stars a few other folks who aren’t strangers to the world of indie comedy. Peter Dinklage (The Station Agent), Tim Blake Neslon (O Brother, Where Art Thou?), and Romany Malco...

- #20. Leaves Of Grass Director: Tim Blake NelsonCast: Edward Norton, Susan Sarandon, Keri Russell, Richard Dreyfuss, Tim Blake NelsonDistributor: Rights Available. Buzz: Everyone's looking forward to Ed Norton times 2, and I think the movie gods from above will shine on this title. His last film, The Grey Zone had the misfortune of preeming on September, 11th and you guessed it, 2001. Should be a title that sells during the fest. The Gist: Norton is portraying twin brothers, one an Ivy League philosophy professor, the other a small-time and brilliant marijuana grower. The professor is lured back to his Oklahoma hometown for a doomed scheme against a local drug lord (Dreyfuss) that unravels his life. Sarandon plays the brothers' eccentric mother, while Russell will play a love interest. Nelson is playing a best friend to one of the brothers. Tiff Schedule: Click here for screening times ...
