Producer Dan "Sherlock Holmes" Lin continues to develop his big screen reboot of "Lara Croft: Tomb Raider", adapting the Eidos video game franchise starring action hero 'Lara Croft'.
Designed by Toby Gard, the Lara Croft video game character has been featured in movies, comic books, novels and animated short films, presented as a resourceful, athletic and reckless Englishwoman of noble birth who travels the world in pursuit of priceless antiquities.
Lara frequently ventures into ancient and often hazardous tombs, ruins, traps and puzzles, encountering a variety of enemies including gangsters, prehistoric animals, legendary creatures and supernatural beings.
The cornerstone of a multi-million dollar franchise, Paramount previously produced two 'Lara Croft' movies starring Angelina Jolie.
Screen rights recently reverted to Eidos, the games company that was, in turn purchased by Japanese publisher Square Enix for $120 million.

Warner Bros, according to a report from Variety, has greenlit DC Comic’s “Suicide Squad” for getting the big-screen treatment as a potential franchise, bringing villains as opposed to heroes to the forefront this time. A mix of obscure and well-known DC supervillains, the off-the-books Suicide Squad must bury their interpersonal conflicts and villainous egos in order to survive and hopefully, shave a few years off their sentences if they manage to survive. Dan Lin and Stephen Gilchrist from Lin Pictures will be producing together and Justin Marks, who has also penned “20,000 Leagues Under the Sea,” the highly-anticipated “Hack/Slash” adaptation, and “Street Fighter”, is penning the screenplay. No director or casting [...]...

Warner Bros. is trying a new spin on superhero flicks and is now taking a chance and set supervillains in the lead roles for its next film project. DC Comics' "Suicide Squad" will be produced by Dan Lin.
The first squad debuted in 1959 DC Comic "The Brave and the Bold," and a series was launched in 1987, Variety reports.
Lin Pictures' Stephen Gilchrist will co-produce, while "Street Fighter" scribe Justin Marks is writing the screenplay.
The story will see a mix of famous and not-so-famous villains recruited by the government to accomplish a task deemed to be too dangerous for the superheroes.

Warner Bros. Pictures has set up the DC Comics property Suicide Squad for Dan Lin ( Sherlock Holmes ) to produce as a potential franchise. In a departure from normal comic-based fare, Suicide Squad concentrates on a group of incarcerated supervillains rather than the usual focus on superheroes. The first version of the squad debuted in a 1959 DC Comic, and a series was launched in 1987. Stephen Gilchrist from Lin Pictures will co-produce. Justin Marks ( 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea , Hack/Slash ) is penning the screenplay. Suicide Squad will feature a mix of well-known and unknown villains recruited by the government to accomplish a task deemed too dangerous for superheroes. The historically independent operators must bury their own interpersonal conflicts and...

Warner Brothers has announced that they are adapting the DC Comics series Suicide Squad, about a group of incarcerated supervillains who are recruited by the government to accomplish tasks deemed too dangerous for superheroes. Rookie producers Dan Lin and Stephen Gilchrist will develop and have set Hollywood's newest favorite fanboy screenwriter Justin Marks to adapt. I'm not personally familiar with the Suicide Squad comics, but it sounds like a concept that has a lot of cool potential. The series first debuted in 1959 and was relaunched in 1987, also known then as "Task Force X", and finished its run in 2002. The first Suicide Squad consisted of Rick Flag, his girlfriend Karin Grace, Dr. Hugh Evans, and Jess Bright, although later Squads also featured Ace High, Beast, Blowhard, Gyp, Jeb Stuart, Lawless, Nickels, Rick Flag, Sr., and Shiv. The reason why the story is so interesting is because these villains, who ...

Warner Bros. and Justin Marks are ready to commit suicide.
The studio has tapped the scribe to adapt DC Comics property "Suicide Squad" as a feature film. Dan Lin and his studio-based Lin Pictures are on board as producers.
Originally a back-up feature in 1960s "The Brave and the Bold," the stories focused on a team of non-super-powered people fighting monstrous menaces. The Squad was reconceived in the 1980s as a team of supervillains given one last shot at redemption by the government by accomplishing missions that will most likely kill them.
It is this latter concept that Warners is working from.
The villains involved have yet to be determined though Deadshot, an assassin with wrist-mounted guns, is a strong candidate.
Stephen Gilchrist is co-producing.
Jon Berg is overseeing for Warners. Gregory Noveck is overseeing for DC.
Marks, currently doing a rewrite of Disney and McG's "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea,...

Newly formed Warner Bros.-based Lin Pictures is staffing up, with Jon Silk coming on board as vp production and Stephen Gilchrist joining as director of development.
The company was formed in January by former Warners senior vp production Dan Lin. The company has a long-term exclusive deal with Warners and is involved in "The Box", directed by Richard Kelly and starring Cameron Diaz; Robert Rodriguez's "Shorts"; and "Justice League".
Lin said Silk and Gilchrist share his desire to make event films that are filmmaker-driven and hopes to capitalize on his hires' international-flavored background.
As vp production, French-born Silk will be responsible for bringing in new material as well as developing Lin Pictures' current slate. He was most recently a director of development at Benderspink, where he set up such projects as "Sweep the Leg" at Summit Entertainment and "Pet Robots" at Disney. He worked at Gold Circle and Universal Pictures and began his career as an assistant to producer Scott Rudin. Before entering the film industry, he was an editor at underground comic book publisher Hippy Comix.
