In 1942, Jona and Avraham, his brother, escaped from Poland to Hungary,
and eventually settled in Israel. "Another brother and the rest of his family
died in concentration camps," the Los Angeles Times reported.
In the 1950s, he co-founded Goldrich & Kest Industries to
develop apartment complexes in Downtown Los Angeles,
Marina Del Rey, and other locations.
